Among Other Things' of Course.........?

Or, maybe Al's support is quid pro quo for Bloomie's support of Joe??? Who knows. Whatever. It just sucks.

Republican Bloomberg to help Lieberman

HARTFORD, Conn. - Republican New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg will host a fundraiser for Sen. Joe Lieberman, D-Conn., at the mayor's Manhattan town house, Lieberman's campaign announced Sunday night. Lieberman, who lost the Democratic primary to Greenwich businessman Ned Lamont, is running for re-election as an independent, a move that has alienated many Democrats. Dan Gerstein, a spokesman for Lieberman's campaign, said the fundraiser will be held Nov. 1 and will be co-chaired another New York Republican, former Sen. Alfonse D'Amato, and former Democratic New York Mayor Ed Koch.

Bloomberg also will appear with Lieberman's wife, Hadassah, at an Oct. 25 fundraiser in Chicago and is hoping to do another appearance on Lieberman's behalf in Connecticut, Gerstein said.

"Senator Lieberman is extremely grateful to Mayor Bloomberg for being so generous with his time," Gerstein said. "The mayor is renowned as a leader who puts people ahead of politics and gets things done for his constituents and his support and validation mean a lot to our campaign." Bloomberg spokesman Stu Loeser said, "The mayor thinks the world of Senator Lieberman, because he speaks his mind and does what he thinks is right."

Or... Maybe that "Unity '08" Ticket will be Lieberman/Bloomberg???????

It all smells to high heaven!

1. Wow... Not one response?
Maybe we really DO think of Joe as a Republican already!

2. I've never thought of him as anything else...
and where have all of the turn-coats' ardent supporters gone, now that he's shown his true face?

I don't recall seeing hundreds of apology threads, but there sure were a lot of them telling us to support this fascist before the primary.

3. Aside form SaveElmer, who wrote some of the classiest
threads after Lieberman's bolt, I agree... I haven't seen many.

Many of them remain here though, attacking those of us who are anti-DLC. That's their new avocation.

4. They just can't wait to see the camps opened up, and make sure their
corporate masters can continue with the Grand Scheme.

5. or maybe it was this
From the Q&O Blog:

1) Bloomberg is a NY Republican which means, essentially, a Republican in name only. Obviously, given the meeting, he has ambitions to higher office. If I were the DLC I'd want to know those ambitions and how they may impact my candidate, Hillary Clinton.

2) I'd want to know how serious Bloomberg was about such a run and who were those backing him. Money talks, BS walks.

3) I'd want to figure out if his candidacy (depending on how he planned on running) would help or hurt my candidate's chances.

4) If I figure it would hurt my candidate, I might want to gather facts which would help me neutralize that possibility (like offering him a high-level job in a H. Clinton administration).

Given the opportunity to be on the inside of such a session would be invaluable for any political operative, but it certainly doesn't necessarily mean endorsement of the effort.
