“It’s unacceptable to think”? I don’t THINK so!
Edited on Sat Sep-16-06 04:08 AM by orleans
Let’s try to be honest here. What man do you know would not consider getting a lightstick rammed up his ass against his will torture? (I personally cannot think of one--can you??)

How about if someone holds your head under water until you feel like your lungs are going to explode?

Bush wants this new law passed so it can be made RETROACTIVE--so he can’t be tried for war crimes. Get it? (he's racked up 30 possible felony charges from the nsa business & he doesn't want anymoe)

“Behind the debate between Congress and the White House over the proper treatment of terror suspects is an old fear at the Central Intelligence Agency: that officers could be vulnerable to lawsuits, or even criminal prosecution, for actions they believed at the time complied with administration policy.

“Legislation proposed by the White House would address that concern head-on by offering retroactive protection for some actions taken since the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks. Specifically, it would amend the War Crimes Act to prohibit only certain “serious violations” of a provision of the Geneva Conventions, including torture, murder and other clearly unsanctioned acts.

“The distinction is a crucial one, because the War Crimes Act prohibits any violation of Common Article 3 of the Geneva Conventions, which outlaws “outrages upon personal dignity” and “humiliating and degrading treatment.” In view of the Supreme Court’s ruling in June that Common Article 3 applies to all interrogations of terror suspects, some harsh techniques used by C.I.A. or military officers since 2001 could be viewed as illegal under the existing law.

Snip

“Finally, in June, the Supreme Court ruled that Common Article 3 of the Geneva Conventions, contrary to what the administration had argued for nearly five years, did apply to all prisoners captured in the campaign against terrorism.

“With the possibility that the Democrats could win control of one or both houses of Congress in the November elections, the prospect of aggressive, public investigations of detainee treatment also looms.

And that’s what this criminal in the white house is afraid of.

To add to his long list of crimes we have this statement from Jonathan Turley on September 1 of this year:

"Federal law expressly makes the ordering of surveillance under the program a federal felony. That would mean that the president could be guilty of no fewer than 30 felonies in office." (Bush says he has reauthorized the program 30 times.) And, Turley continues, "it is illegal for other government officials to carry out such an order."

And unless congress passes this law for bush--HE’S NOT GOING TO BOTHER PROTECTING THIS COUNTRY ANYMORE?
So, basically he is THREATENING us, giving us ultimatums, behaving as if “it’s my way or the highway”.

Today that son-of-a-bitch told David Gregory in his hissy-fit press conference:

“You can ask this question all you want, but the bottom line is -- and the American people have got to understand this -- that this program won't go forward; if there is vague standards applied, like those in Common Article III from the Geneva Convention, it's just not going to go forward.”

What the hell is that suppose to mean? That if we get “hit” again it won’t be his responsibility (again)? Well, I say FUCK HIM! He’s wicked as hell.

Bush even had the audacity to state: “ It's unacceptable to think that there's any kind of comparison between the behavior of the United States of America and the action of Islamic extremists who kill innocent women and children to achieve an objective”
http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2006/09/20060915-2.html

Unacceptable to think? Who the hell does he think he is?

And to anyone foolish enough to attempt to defend this criminal, anyone so married to this man and his dirty republican party that they would try to justify this criminal’s behavior, I say: Where the hell do you think you live? How dare you try to destroy this country simply to show your solidarity with this dimwitted sociopath.

All this over a man who tells the citizens of this country “it is unacceptable to think.”

My god, people! WAKE UP!

1. Now we know why
Bush never thinks. He believes that it is "unacceptable to think!" That explains a lot, doesn't it. Only Rovian scare tactics could ever get this clown elected as our Prez-ident!

2. Well said Orleans
If thinking certain thoughts is unacceptable to the "leader of the free world" then what is his next step? Are we all to be branded as thought criminals? Are re-education camps far behind?

Of course such thinking is unacceptable, no American President would ever consider such actions any more than one would condone torture. Right?

4. How do we know torture works?
Can we trust that those tortured are giving accurate information? Many experts say torture does not work. I cannot handle accepting torture as a natural and normal part of my country's "rules and laws"!

12. unfortunately, many who voted for him have tuned it all out.
They aren't very interested in politics unless someone comes along and stirs them all up, come election time, to go out and vote for one of their wedge issues. They just aren't paying attention. They think they've done their duty by voting for him, and now it's his problem.

How to get these people to wake up and care? It's a huge problem that I don't have the answers to. A vigilant press would be a good start, though.
