Attn Texans: Do NOT vote for Kinky Friedman.
I saw him in an interview today, and he said he wants to put the 10 Commandments into the schools, along with mandatory school prayer. In this regard he is no different than the Republicans.

It was also obvious that he does not have a very good command of the issues, as he had a very difficult time giving any substantive answers to the questions he was being asked.

I'm still not sure who the best candidate is, but Rick Perry and kinky Friedman should be ruled out.

3. Larrisa, did you see kinky Friedman's interview with Brad Watson?
He was pretty clueless. I'm here in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.

And yes, Bell may be the only decent choice. The "Texas Grandma" is actually no outsider. She's better known by her previous name: Rylander.

8. Not a Texan, but if I were, I'd vote Bell...I LOVE Kinky as an entertainer
He makes me laugh, smile and even, sometimes cry, but he isn't a governor. Chris Bell could be.

Anyone who really cares about the future of Texas should give Chris Bell serious consideration.

2. Richard is a joke
I have known him for far too long.

He is a sellout.

The most selfish person that I have ever known (and that's going some).

7. I'm voting for the true blue Dem, Chris Bell, who took on DeLay before
it was fashionable and back when DeLay was still a VERY powerful congressman.

I want Chris Bell to be the next Guv of Texas!

10. He also said he'd decriminalize pot, so I'm for him,
I consider putting the Ten Commandments in the schools to be infinitely preferable to putting dope smokers in prison.

If Kinky makes half-ass sense (as opposed to no sense at all, like the other candidates) I'm for him.

11. What about Chris Bell makes no sense?
Kinky might think he's some kind of Jesse Ventura, but Texas is hardly Minnesota. The entire state government is in one party's hands, and this guy tries to act like the democrats are somehow part of "the system". For God's sake, the democrats end up hiding out in motels.

As to pot, decriminalization is a legislative issue. I have a feeling the next legislature won't be decriminalizing pot, no matter who's the governor.

12. You must like your weed.
Did I mention he couldn't return an intelligent answer to any question that was asked of him?

Besides, he will not succeed in de-criminalizing marijuana use in Texas, but he might succeed with mandatory school prayer and the 10 Commandments.

We don't need another theocrat office.

14. I"m a Texan...
and I'm voting for Chris Bell. I've met Bell at Dem Fest last summer and enjoyed speaking with him. Kinky is a gimmick as far as I am concerned. Lots of fools here falling for his crap.

15. Kinky is interesting (and entertaining)
But that 10 commandments thingy tells me that he doesn't quite get the Constitution. I figure every politician should as a minimum, get the Constitution (this of course, excludes the Republicants).

16. The Texas Jewboy plays to his redneck fans:
Friedman said Wednesday that musicians and artists among the Hurricane Katrina evacuees who fled to Houston last year have returned to New Orleans, but "the crackheads and the thugs have decided to stay here."

Although he was criticized for the comments by some community groups in Houston, he defended them, saying, "as it happens, the crackheads and thugs who remain in Houston after Katrina happen to be black; that's fact." Later, he told the San Antonio Express-News that he disdains politicians who pander to minorities.

"I don't eat tamales in the barrio; I don't eat fried chicken in the ghetto; I don't eat bagels with the Jews for breakfast. That, to me, is true racism," said Friedman, who is Jewish.
