Ohio GOP Attacks Republicans for Strickland

Major irony alert!

The Ohio Republican Party on Wednesday slammed three noted members of its political family who a day earlier dared to cross the GOP machine and support Democrat Ted Strickland for governor.

In a viciously worded statement entitled "Slop & Sour Grapes," party leaders linked Charles "Rocky" Saxbe and Dan Slane to state government scandals that have dogged Republicans of late. And they said Betty Davis jumped ship because she's still bitter about losing a chance to run for the Ohio House to Tom Raga, now the running mate of Republican gubernatorial candidate Ken Blackwell.

A day after blaming the media for keeping alive interest in convicted Republican kingmaker Tom Noe, who once was a darling of GOP fundraising, the Republican party now points out that Saxbe was once Noe's attorney on the case.
