BBC: Blair condemns anti-US 'madness'

Blair condemns anti-US 'madness'

The "anti-American feeling" of some European politicians is "madness"
as the world needs the US to help tackle pressing problems, Tony Blair
says.

There is a danger some countries will "pull up the drawbridge and disengage",
the prime minister said in a pamphlet published by the Foreign Policy Centre.

And he said while the "war on terror" is "unconventional", it can be won
by promoting values as much as force.

-snip-

"The strain of, frankly, anti-American feeling in parts of European politics
is madness when set against the long-term interests of the world we believe in,"
Mr Blair is quoted as saying.

3. Europeans not Anti-American
When I talk to Europeans, they are very clear that they are anti-Bush and anti U.S. government and almost everyone has says they genuinely like Americans.

Curse Blair for his deliberate distortion of this view and his Quisling support for Bush. Another politician who has chosen to deliberately desttoy his own political career for shrub?!?!

People the world over hate you, Bush and your policies, not America, get over yourself;
'l'etat, ce n'est pas toi'

We will survive long past your convenient war on terrah, go away and good riddance.

7. STFU, you Presidential poodle.
Retire now with some semblence of dignity, and PRAY you haven't creamed the notion of labour in the UK as a political force, in your mad rush to shove your nose up Bush's anus.

9. EXACTLY!
We're not anti-American here. We're anti-Bush, and anti-war, and were from the beginning. Blair has disregarded our views on this and on many other things.

He has stayed so long because the opposition was so bad, and because our system gives Prime Ministers too much power - not because we love him.

One thing I sometimes wish we could borrow from your system is term limits on leaders - both Blair and Thatcher stayed too long, and started acting like elected dictators.

He thinks he's a great hero, and will go down in history with a wonderful legacy; but he won't, and I hope he lives long enough to realize it.

11. We've tried many times!
And we wish he would go away!

Unfortunately, the main opposition are the Tories (it's as though you had a right-wing Democrat as president and no primary-election system and could only defeat him by getting the Republicans in!) His party can replace him, and are now likely to do so soon; but within the Labour Party, there are few obvious viable candidates who haven't been strongly associated with Tony's government. It will be Gordon Brown, no doubt. An improvement, but...quite a few big 'but's.

I detest Tony. He has betrayed his party, his country and the world. And to think I was so happy when he got elected in 1997!
