Guest column (on JABBS): Are The Terrorists Winning?

It's a question that has to be answered, unfortunately.

And it pains me to say this. And it angers me to say this.

It's now been five years since Sept. 11, 2001, and each year I feel its an anniversary I seem to dislike more and more, because I see just how far our country has come since that period five years ago when it seemed like all Americans were united in spirit, despite the tragedy, and now, because I see how unfortunately divided we are, how disrespected and loathed we are by much of the rational, free-thinking world, how inept and impotent we seem in the face of danger, how fearful we have grown as a common people....

5. They won. We are on the cusp of never being free again
if we don't turn things around in this country. So in a backwards kind of way, they have. Have they won from their standpoint? No, because they haven't brought down the US economy yet which I believe was a goal of theirs (to bring down the military industrial complex) as evidenced by their targets and rhetoric.

6. winning what?....
....the only ones winning are the oil companies and the defense contractors....

....I find it absolutely amazing that the country that helped defeat the fascists during WWII, that drove the Soviet Union out of existance, that put a man on the moon, that invented modern electronics and technology is somehow terrorized and confounded by bearded old men in caves....

....we have either been intentionally freightened by the 'boogie-man' or bearded old men in caves have developed super-human powers....
