"I approved this message...and so do we"

I've noticed at the end of some ads, where the candidate comes on and says "I'm Joe Blow, and I approved this message", there's a whole bunch of people standing there who say "And so do we."

I first noticed it in a Lamont ad. Now I've seen it in the Washington senate race. Are other candidates doing this as well? Did Lamont start it, or did someone out there see it sooner? I don't remember ever seeing it in a 2004 ad.

1. I think Lamont's campaign came up with it. It's brilliant.

No wonder people are racing to copycat it.

On edit: Both Maria Cantwell (D-WA) and Mike McGavick (R-Challenger) are using it in their ads.

4. Seems to me I saw something online that was a weak imitation.

Don't recall who for, though. It was the smiling energy that the Lamont kids (& other regular folk) had that made it memorable. Their emphasis on the WE. It was energizing. Such a nice touch.

3. So we need lots of adds with the near 100K of us here in the background -

we can get Russ or Wes or someone to say "I think that G W * is a liar, a criminal, and the worst president in the history of the US, and should be impeached" - and we can all chime in "and so do we"!
