Got a recorded campaign call from a fundy asshole this evening

It wasn't the first, apparently they are using voter rolls without regard to party to make these
automated calls. This one starts out with "Nobody has ever asked me if I'm a Democrat or a Republican"...that was a hugh (sic) red flag to me but I did listen to the pitch. Lots of code words:
"family values", "conservative principles"...all that kind of shit. They left a tollfree number and a website (below) - I called the number and asked "Is this guy a Democrat, or a Republican?...your
candidate said nobody had ever asked the question and also how did I get on the list of far-rightwing morons who want to institute an American version of the Taliban?"

The kid (sounded like a college-age guy) was actually fairly accomodating although I don't think
he had the first fuckin' clue what I was talking about, did admit his guy was running on the
Republican ticket, but offered to take me off their calling list - gave him the info and said
"you damn well better"

1. Got it in Nevada in 2004 also.

My cell phone got hit at least 4 times by call center people who would give this pitch about some "great" candidate. They would yammer on about all the things he or she stood for, or had supposedly done, and then at the end, ask me if they could "count on my vote this November?"

Every SINGLE time, I would ask them what party the candidate was, and they would say Repuke. Funny thing was, most of the time they almost sounded like they felt bad to admit it. I'm sure I was far from the only person who told them that they could call me again when hell froze over.

3. I received this same recording. Annoying to say the least. I

try to have a little fun with these calls when possible. (When there is an actual person on the phone, for example.) I was recently surveyed and just made everything up as I went along. I acted interested. Hah.

4. I also left a pretty scathing message on the "contact us" link from

their website. Not that I expect a reply, neither of our senators will respond any more. I should have thrown Coburn out of the plane 30 years ago when I had the chance...
