I just thought of something.
Now that the Republican nomination in Rhode Island appears to have been won by Chafee, I wouldn't be surprised to see Republicans comparing his success to Joe Lieberman's failure. Following the Connecticut primary, they were quick to say that the Democratic Party turns its back on candidates who disagree on one issue, and now they will use Chafee's win to try and prove that they are the opposite. "Democrats threw Joe Lieberman out of the party just for expressing a different opinion about Iraq, but our party is supportive of candidates who take different stances."

I know, it's bullshit, but they are desperate and some voters may fall for it. Democrats will have to be prepared to fight back.
