Poll question: Who would you rather see win the RI puke primary today?
I have been a staunch supporter of that lunatic laffey because I know he'll lose. But, it brings up a quandry. If Chafee loses then the pukes will put zero dollars into RI and move that money to Virginia, Tennessee, etc. If Chafee wins, he has about a 50-50 chance of getting back his seat.
While I realize that Chaffee is the most moderate puke, he's still a puke.

Given my short scenario, my question is

Who would you rather see win the RI pukie primary?

1. I may not be a fan of the Republicans...
...but that doesn't mean I don't want moderate or reasonable Republicans to lose to ultra-right wingers. So if the choice is between Chafee and Laffey, ti's Chafee all the way.

2. No question, Laffey.
RI will not elect him in the general election. It goes Democrat.

4. I like Chafee
I don't live in RI, so it doesn't matter much. While I realize that Democrats kind of need his seat, he DID vote against the Iraq war, in the face of 75% of the Senate. In my opinion, the people in the Senate who voted against the war need to stay there...they are the kind of senators that we need.

On the other hand, I disagree that a Laffey win would be a problem because the GOP would move money elsewhere...because the Democrats would too. Whitehouse has it in the bag if Laffey wins.

6. Good point
I hadn't thought of that. You're correct about it freeing up Dems money. Thanks so much.

5. lol that looks funny
I say chafee only because I can't stand laffey or the club for growth (who are sponsoring him). no one supported by those extremists should be allowed to have any political 'wins' whatsoever.

Besides, if the unthinkable happened and whitehouse self destructed between now and november I'd never forgive myself if laffey was elected.

7. The political side of me wants Laffey to win so Whitehouse can win in
November.

The bigger picture, though, wants me to try to keep rightwing nutcases like Laffey as far away from real power as possible.

The U.S. Congress has plenty rightwing nutcases as it is.

9. If I lived in Rhode Island, I would have crossed over to the
dark side for a day and voted for Laffey. If Laffey wins the primary, Dems will get the seat.
