Condoleezza Rice blames black Americans for their ignorance about African issues in her upcoming interview with Essence magazine's Tatsha Robertson. "On the foreign-policy side, if African-Americans indeed care about Africa, how many African­-Americans know that this President has tripled official development assistance to Africa, tripled after it was flat since Jimmy Carter?"

Let's see, now... How many groups does she piss off with just this latest statement. Having her as Head of the State Department could not be a more cynical message as to the importance of diplomacy in this administration.

While I wish her no harm, I would dearly love to see her face an average group of African Americans (not pre-selected in any way) WITHOUT her entourage or secret service detail! They wouldn't even have to open their mouths. Just having to face REAL Americans, much less REAL African-Americans would leave her in need of a major "Depends" change.... Rather, in real dollars, it has increased 56% (or 67% in nominal dollar terms). The majority of that increase consists of emergency food aid, rather than assistance for sustainable development of the sort Africa needs to achieve lasting poverty reduction.
