Sweet music to my ears!
Seen and heard at a Montgomery County, Maryland polling place this Primary Day morning:

1. A young Hispanic man switching his party registration from Republican to Democrat

2. An older woman, a Democrat who has never been active before in her life, volunteering to work at our precinct's literature table because she is disgusted with the Bush regime

3. Hispanic and black high school kids -- too young to vote -- out at 7 a.m. handing out literature for non-Hispanic Democratic primary candidates

I see and hear more and more evidence that individual voters are growing fed up with the Bushistas and getting active.

That's the story from Derwood, Maryland. Tell us about your community!

1. Washington DC (Capitol Hill Ward 6)
Long line at 7:30 this morning.

Choice of pencil or electronic voting machine.

No one chose the electronic monster.

Lots of candidate campaigning along the sidewalk.

Huge bake sale, too!

What a great time!

2. This anecdotal evidence is becoming compelling.
I am hearing so much of it, and not just here on DU (which would be necessarily biased). There really is something very significant happening politically in this country.

I'm thinking that the true political demeanor is flying under the radar. Nobody is talking about it. True, we're hearing a bit about it on the news, but all the talk is soft, like "ChimpCo has a chance to pull it out," and such. The incessant media bias to be "moderate", which places only right leaning Democrats against lunatic Repugs, is either not picking up on this, or is delusional to the point that they think it won't make a difference in November.

What I think is that it *will* make a difference. Here's why. People are ultra *pissed*. I mean over-the-top. The only response ChimpCo has in store is more political bushit. But that's precisely what the people are pissed about.

The public opinion polls which measure "most likely voters" are not going to reflect what's going to happen. They are going to overcount the ChimpCo supporters and undercount the opposition. In November, I think we might see the largest percentage turnout of any midterm election for some time. The deal is that nobody's going to be reporting that, or if they do, they're going to lowball it.

We're in uncharted waters here. In my forty years of political activism I cannot remember any time that things were so polarized. ChimpCo is going to reap the whirlwind.
