Sometimes there is debate. Other times there's just the truth.
Its pretty striking, isn't it? There's teevee. On teevee these days, there's what passes as newz. But there's little that passes as newz that is not simply left to stand on its own. Instead, in the interest of being 'fair and balanced' we get 'debate'. This is what passes for 'fair and balanced' today. A very well trained right wing shriek monkey who's chief schooling is a PhD in 'microphone domination'. They are schooled in a special breathing technique that allows them to effortlessly talk for minutes on end, never stopping or seeming to breathe. Its an artform, really. Meanwhile, abetted by the 'host', the lefty 'victim' gets to set up the next talking point, at which point the right winger uses the feigned indignancy of 'I let you talk, now let me say what's on *my* mind.'

Sometimes, however, there is no credible reason to even have 'debate'. There is only one side to a story when the story is about facts. The 'newz' may wish to book an expert on the topic to explain it, but the facts are .... well ..... facts.

Facts is or facts ain't.

People like that right wing amphetamized stepford woman, Cheri Jacobus, need to be put out of work. For all the words she and her ilk string together in sentence-like constructs there is only spin. No substance.

And who does their hair, makeup, and clothes? They all look the same.

1. I've been remarking for years about the dreary sameness
of the bottle bonde bimbette squad on the right. Except for Malkin, they're universally peroxided, carefully coiffed, and brittle. They're also starting to age, so their time is very limited. The right is incredibly intolerant of women with too many birthdays.

I'm also sick of explaining the difference between a fact an opinion to the stupid. Someone else is going to have to take over for a while. There are only so many brick walls of ignorance I can confront and I'm tired.

I sincerely wish the tepid liberals they allow on these shows to be ganged up on by 2, 3 or even 4 rabid right wingers would call them on the bullshit, the bullying, and the plain bad manners. I wish they'd tell a host to do his damned job and maintain order.

For me, the format wore out in about 1993. I think that's the last time I watched a Sunday gasbag show. If someone says there were fireworks (maybe once every 2 years), I'll just go read the transcript.

Their sponsors are just going to have to look elsewhere for a warm body to sit though the Viagra commercials while gasbags spout talking points.
