No mention anywhere of both Sunday & Monday broadcasts who sponsored the thing. Has this been discussed?

2. It's been discussed but nobody seems to know yet.
The movie seems to have been made by an otherwise unknown production company run by fundies. The facts will probably dribble out soon enough.

4. My guess is that they supplied the movie at no cost to those
networks, sort of like an infomercial. I'll bet the 40 million is an inflated figure, the thing was probably shot on video & done indie non union. Those weren't exactly big name hot stars.

10. well, my theory is that this money was channeled to the fundie group
via the admins faith based charities program. It might be interesting if we could see a list of dollars and donees(sp) to these charities and compare names and numbers.

5. I think that...
Edited on Mon Sep-11-06 02:50 AM by DeSwiss
...ABC realized they wouldn't get any sponsors to begin with. If they had, they'd run the risk of losing them on other shows along with a ton of business from the ensuing rage and boycotts against their sponsors that would follow. And the association with this propaganda would stick to those sponsors like the stink on sh*t!

ABC knew this was a piece crappola from the start and that they wouldn't even be able to give the ad time away to anyone once the uproar they knew would come, started. Look at how they tried to conceal the evidence right up to the last minute. The very people whom the story portrayed were denied advance copies of this "crockudrama." That's the reason there weren't any sponsors. Who in their right mind would touch it?

Which excludes ABC/Disney of course.

8. excellent question . . .
SOMEONE made up for the lost ad revenue . . . ABC didn't do this out of the goodness of their hearts . . .

besides, it would open them to shareholder lawsuits if they simply gave away six hours of prime broadcast time at the very beginning of the new tv season . . .

9. I think that the people who foisted that crap on ABC
Probably so threatened them and made them feel as if they were somehow out of touch with mainstream thought that ABC felt they had no choice but to appease these folks. But if I were a stockholder, I would be multiply pissed beyond my Democratic opinions. For one, primetime Sunday: even a crap regular movie would have had better ratings and at least a few sponsors: secondly, the potential lawsuits and legal exposure: thirdly, the negative public relations.

To all who made that crap..YOULL NEVER WORK IN THIS TOWN AGAIN, AND ALL THOSE WHO HAVEN'T BEFORE WORKED IN THIS TOWN...DON'T QUIT YOUR DAY JOB....
