Lyndon LaRoche- genius or lunatic of the left?
Edited on Sun Sep-10-06 05:55 PM by TitanicWreck
Im a proud massachusetts liberal- BUT whenever the local Lyndon laRoche followers try and give me the LaRoache pamphlets, I try and avoid them. I have read some of LaRoche's articles-Though I agree with his conempt for Bush and Chenney, LaRoche seems a bit unhinged- What do you all think of Lyndon Laroche? Do most hard left lberals take him seriously, or dismiss him as a nutcase?

Once in NYC I saw a large group of LaRoche devotees singng some sort of LaRoche anthem-It was a bit spooky..

6. Yep, that's always been my take on him.
But then I haven't done much you could call "research" on the guy. Just know he's been around longer than god, seems like!

22. I had a conversation with one of Lyndon's supporters a few years ago
He called me by mistake. I was always getting random calls because my number at the time was only one digit different than the number of the head Constitution Party conspiracy-theory-of-the-week whack job in our area and this is who the LaRouche guy had been trying to reach.

Since he had me he thought he might as well take the opportunity to talk up Lyndon. It was interesting but when it got to Queen Elizabeth II being involved with a world-wide secret organization of bankers and money people who controlled or were attempting to control the planet or something I laughed out loud and told him if he really believed that he was nuts. He got offended and said he was sorry I wasn't interested in having a serious conversation and hung up.

21. does that include the "of the left" attribute?
I'd say cult leaders are more often associated with the other wing.

9. neither
weld-style libertarian, without the elitist contempt weld had for the working slob.
given how many years he's been on the scene, larouche has contributed very little to the national dialogue of any substance. that isn't because the msm has chosen to ignore him, it's because he wraps pseudo-policy ideas in tinfoil logic and paranoia.

just my two cents.

17. LaRoche thought the Grateful Dead were British secret agents
Interesting observation bluestate guy, noting that LaRoche had an obsession with the British monarchy.

I never could understand LaRoche's belief that the band the Grateful Dead were agents of the Britsh government-Especially given the fact they were from San Francisco...
I just cant see Jerry Garcia or Pigpen as spies...

Skids, I love your General Zod avatar!

In Somerville MA, in Davis Square, I was trapped in a conversation by a LaRoche devotee- when I questioned LaRoche's sanity, the devotee started blinking spasmatically, and started yelling at me..I was with him that Bush and Chenny were war mongering neo fascists, but the fact I wouldn't except LaRoche angered him.

30. I got a fundraising call from one of his disciples years ago,
when ol' Lyndon was still in prison. When I asked him when LYndon might be getting out, I was told that "Mr. LaRouche is a political prisoner. If you believe he is a criminal, then you are either a communist or a homosexual."

That pretty much summed him up for me.

33. Lyn LaRouche loathes gay people with high passion:
"They’re already beating up gays with baseball bats around the country! Children are going to playgrounds, they go in with baseball bats, and they find one of these gays there, pederasts, trying to recruit children, and they take their baseball bats and they beat them up pretty bad. They’ll kill one sooner or later. In Chicago, they’re beating up gays that are hanging around certain schools, pederasts; children go out with baseball bats and beat them up—which is perfectly moral; they have the civil right to do that! It’s a matter of children’s civil rights!"

Lyndon H. LaRouche, Jr., “The End of the Age of Aquarius?" EIR (Executive Intelligence Review), January 10, 1986, p. 40.

LaRouche has written that history might not judge harshly those who joined lynch-mobs and beat gay people to death with baseball bats to stop the spread of AIDS:

"The lynchers…are a special variety of political revolutionary, and express, spontaneously, the conspiratorial and other ethical characteristics of political revolutionaries….

"Since the idea of touching the person of the carrier is abhorrent, stones and the nadiest approximation of a collection of baseball bats, come to mind. Certain individuals, of known haunts, first suggest themselves as easy targets.

"The point is fast approaching, that increasing portions of these populations will focus upon the fact, that a dead AIDS carrier ceases to be a carrier. If governments were to proceed with repeated mass-screenings of the population, and isolation of carriers, the likelihood of a teenager lynch-mob phenomenon would be small. If not, then other ways of reducing the number of carriers will become increasingly popular.

"In that case, the lynch-mobs might be seen by later generations’ historians, as the only political force which acted to save the human species from extinction."

Lyndon H. LaRouche, Jr., “Teenage Gangs’ Lynchings of Gays is Foreseen Soon,” New Solidarity, February 9, 1987, p. 8.
