Poll question: Will You Watch "Path to 9/11" Mockudrama?
Edited on Sat Sep-09-06 04:33 PM by AtomicKitten
Just curious what DU'ers intend to do. It is pretty clear ABC intends to air this shameful propaganda hit-piece. I am insisting my cable company block ABC and not charge me for the station.

73. Why would anyone watch a 9/11 film?
Personally, I relive that day EVERY DAY. Whenever I see a single clip, I RELIVE THAT DAY. I really do not need to see a "movie" to tell me what happened. The 9/11 Commission got a number of answers a to why, what happened, etc. They also missed a million opportunities to get to the REAL answer as to why/what/etc.
I do not need any actor portraying any part of this horrible day, thank you.
Earlier this week there was a thread on "The Falling Man" and the book that is coming out (or something to that effect). Who would play him?

The Bush Administration is POLITICISING 9/11. The need to stop. They want to OWN 9/11. Then the should pay the price of ownership. Bush was CEO the day it happened.

As "Commander in Chief" the military should try him on the charge of "conduct unbecoming an officer."

12. NO! I haven't watched any 9/11 related movies, documentaries,
or anything else similar. I don't need a damn reminder! I was watching CNN the morning of 9/11, and I remember looking at the first shots they showed AFTER the first plane hit, and they werre talking about not being able to confirmwhat kind or size plane it was. I remember thinking "How could any polot be that damn stupid? THEN I saw the second plane hit the second tower! Iwas alone here with my doggies, but I know I gasped and said out loud OH MY GOD, THIS WHOLE THING IS NO ACCIDENT!

I admit, if this ABC film was portraying Shrub as the incompetent one, I would be tempted to tune in, but that's obviously not the case, and I would NEVER give ABC the benefit of even ONE more viewer!

34. That's how I feel, too
And I was watching basically the same thing only I had WNBC from New York on (until they went off the air.) I (like everyone else) never expected a second plane and it was so shocking. I remember shaking as they talked about the Pentagon hit and crying when I called my mother to see if she was watching it and screaming at my husband when the buildings collapsed. It still seems like a dream.

I'm not a big fan of docudramas on tv anyhow. I certainly don't intend to change my ways to watch this one, regardless of its accuracy.

I still find the wounds from 9/11 too raw in any case.

I'm already so sick of 9/11, 9/11, 9/11 and the damn anniversary hasn't even happened yet. In a country that wallows in anniversaries (Fred Flintstone is 40!!), I assume we will have to put up with this sort of crap every single year.

It is not worthy of my time or my attention. I will have dinner, wine and conversation with my husband on our porch on into the evening. We will watch the wind in the trees until darkness comes and then retire to our books and magazines. As W.H.Auden once prescribed: "Read the New Yorker, trust in God, and take long views."

Good advice.

Yes, I will watch it and report back to DU soon after....
My thinking is, you must know what the opposition thinks.
You can't get into their heads if you don't know how they
think and what they think.

I also think it was not smart to give this mocudrama more
publicity by trying to shut it down. With all this bruhaha
there will be lot more people watching than before. I never
would have watched it because I rarely watch movies on TV,
and would have never known about it until I read about the
controversy in newspapers, DU and other media.

I think the concerted effort to shut it down was appropriate because 43% of Americans believe Saddam was involved in 9-11 despite all news to the contrary (and Junior half-assed admitting it). This stuff is defamatory and it is important to be careful before an election, particularly one in which the "Dems are weak on terror" meme is being shoveled knee-deep because that's all they have.

It is just too wrong not to fight IMO.

47. I will be back-up.
I plan to keep fighting even after it's aired, as the Republicans did with F-9/11, so I'll have to watch it to see what's in it to be able to list ALL the fiction and fraud it contains.

I do understand what you're saying about the publicity we gave it by trying to take it off the air, but I think it was a chance worth taking. We also publicized the distortions and outright lies within it - and probably prevented a good number of Americans from believing it as fact.

51. OH, DARN THAT LIBERAL MEDIA!
When there was a docu-drama about Reagan the conservatives howled because it didn't include a graven image for audience to bow before. The producers kept re-editing it to appease them but nothing doing. Oh, it was that darn "liberal media" once again bashing the poor, defenseless conservatives.

So, what happens when a documentary that's clearly biased against the Clinton administration appears on the scene? Why certainly, it's the public's right to know. To do anything but broadcast it in its entirety is censorship. Darn that "liberal media" for even suggesting such a thing!

52. Yes I will watch it...I don't have cable, tivo, satellite, etc.
I get 3 channels with my antennae, no one can record that I've seen it...

The reason why I'm watching it is because if anyone wants to talk about the movie, I feel like I MUST be able to jump right in and correct the "fictionalization"...if they ask me if I saw it and I said "no", then they wouldn't even acknowledge my responses...if I see it, then I can talk about it with authority...

I'm absolutely fuming about this...I led a 15 person trip to Disney (at $70 per ticket) back in June...
I told my husband that we will never be buying from DIsney again (I explained why, and he agreed - - I've NEVER boycotted anything before, so this is big for me!)

60. Both ABC and Oliver Stone have an interest in distortion
Oliver Stone, incredibly enough, is planning to push the bullshit Iraq and Saddam Hussein connection to the 9/11 attacks. A shame, b/c I used to have some respect for the guy after Platoon-- wasn't Stone one of the people who was furious about all the lies LBJ and other members of the US government told to sucker the US into the Vietnam War?

Yet now, faced with even more baldfaced lies sucking the US into another quagmire in Iraq, Stone seems to be planning to repeat rather than confront them. If so, then he himself is a hypocrite, even more so now that Iraq is poised to damage us far more than even Vietnam did.

I just told my daughter we would be blocking everything related to ABC/Disney, and she is pretty upset about losing the Gilmore Girls. She's 12 years old, close to 13.

Lifetime. A program I'm even kind of glad she likes. But I am going to block them all. Maybe we can rent CDs of Gilmore Girls from the library. That won't put any money in their pockets, nor any advertisers.

66. We should not forget Oh, what's her name?
The Navy wife. I found her again lately. The one who did the very long interview, about the orgies and the blackmail.

I don't know what they've done to Oliver Stone, but I think they've got him by the gonads somehow. As I think they have many Democratic members of Congress.

What is her name? I know someone will remember. The interview is posted on line, and it will turn your hair white. Her husband was an officer, I think he went to Princeton? And they had something other than Skull and Bones. Some kind of gastronic club, seems like. I could be way off. Kay.... Kay... I think her name may be Kay... something.

Does anyone remember?

We must not forget the blackmail. They seduce people, get people to do bad things and take video, so they can control them.

Remember the Franklin cover-up? Remember that story that did make the cover of the Washington Post? About the pedophile ring with connections to the first *ush White House?

I apologize for not remembering more. Very sorry I am.

Kay... Starts with G? Kay Gris.... Oh, this is killing me.

65. Watching Simpsons season premiere
More informative, better writing, better fact-checkers and more historically accurate. Vote Quimby.

68. I can't with good conscious trash the accuracy of something
based only on what other people tell me or what I read from the MSM or worse, admittedly biased blogs.

But, I doubt I'll watch tonight. lol

I am very interested in what their portrayal of the bush regime is in this fiasco, so I might watch monday night.

72. Put it this way . ..
I voted for the "piss" option, since I took a Cheney today with more substance and truth.

I'm going to watch it because I need to know just how pissed off I need to be. I'm taping the lies and will watch it later.

It's like a car wreck.

76. I'm taping it as we speak! I feel we must see what the opposition..
is fronting! I'll have a record! Not that I'm watching it now, but I will have a record of the lies they will be telling! It's important to have a copy so when you go into court you have some evidence!

77. I'll watch the Naudet Brothers documentary about the firefighters on 9/11
It's showing on CBS @ the same time. It was shot on 9/11 and is a real documentary. There are supposed to be interviews with some of the firefighters who were featured in the original. I wonder how many have breathing problems.

It's the documentary that the christians nuts are trying to get fined because of profanity. Gee, I can't think of a better time to cuss than when the buildings fell.

78. Wonderful! We need all of us to record EVERY thing we can...
about 9/11! Eventually, we will have a library of all the tapes we have recorded! i'm sure that George Bush will be more than horrified about all of the evidence of criminal activity that we have recorded about this war criminal administration!
