New Jersey race for US Senate - it's close.
Perhaps the only Democratic US Senator at risk this year is Bob Menendez.

He's running against Tom Kean, Jr., which some in NJ have confused with Tom Kean, Sr. (The senior Kean is popular in New Jersey, though some of us aren't fans.)

Anyway, I just donated $50 to Bob Menendez:

5. Latest polls show Menendez down 5%.
And this federal probe obviously isnt going to help.

Still, I really like Menendez, he's a brawler.

6. I have a hard time believing that New Jersey will elect a Republican
this year. In 2004, I would have been more concerned.

8. DU could get an Act Blue page for that.

Daily Kos has an Act Blue page. So does Atrios. Crooks and Liars and Firedoglake share one.

Here is the Daily Kos Act Blue page:

Menendez should pose this question: Does Tom Jr support the new findings about how Christie Whitman and the Rethug Bush Admin. LIED about the safety of the environment in WTC area following 911---An awful lot of Jerseyans must be affected by the crappy air they were subjected to....

Put the F*CKER on the spot, for god's sake.

How the hell can anyone confuse the scumbag father who was gov. about 30 years ago with the son???

23. Whitman fucked up NJ's finances during the '90s
And caused some of the problems that McGreevey (who was a corrupt POS in his own right even if he had a "D" next to his name) and Corzine have had to deal with.

If Menendez ties Kean Jr. to Whitman, he may be able to take Jr. down a peg. He should also be running ads about how his father his become a partisan shill for ABC.

14. The people who read liberal blogs and message boards...
...and are following the ABC docudrama issue closely enough to know that Tom Kean, Sr. was paid off to support lies, probably weren't going to vote for a Republican for US Senator in November without this controversy.

15. I Think It COULD Be His Name...`
With all the talk about immigration, his name could be a factor, so says Charlie Cook!

He's wasn't sure, but he basically said it was too close to call and he was surprised at how the race has been changing.

I'm also concerned about Harold Ford too! He's pretty moderate, but still he's very personable and that would be a GREAT pick-up... Cook says it's close, but he's not sure Ford will win!

16. I think that is true...
Menendez should start calling him "Jr" just to distinguish between the two. He is riding his fathers coattails.

27. Plenty of people w/Hispanic names here in NJ.
Not sure the immigration issue will play as large here as in some places. Lots of Hispanic taxpayers in these parts.

22. I saw him interviewed on Hardball or something
Kean Jr could barely put a thought together let alone a sentence - so obviously in over his head and riding his daddy's coattails.
Reminds me of another dimson we all know and loathe.
