Raw Story: Bush wants you to see him as pre-Iraq, pre-Katrina Bullhorn Boy
Saturday's edition of the New York Times will carry an article slated for the front page which examines President Bush's "reset the clock" strategy.

"When President Bush and his top aides gathered in July to plan a strategy for the fifth anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks, it was clear to all that they had to try to reset the clock -- back to a time, before Iraq, when portraying Bush as a steely commander in chief was a far simpler task, and before Katrina, when questions about the administration's competence did not weigh so heavily," write David E. Sanger and Sheryl Gay Stolberg.

"From those discussions emerged the speeches Bush has delivered over the last week, the leading edge of a remarkably intensive and aggressive campaign in which he has attempted to regain ground he has lost for more than two years, by turning the conversation away from Iraq and back toward the broader war on terror," the article continues.

A fourth-grader could run the country better than George has. And everyone knows it.

6. 'And everyone knows it.'
Absolutely correct and you would think the people who even pretend to be deluded bu him should be embarrassed.

10. You said it all
He did nothing for Katrina victims. They weren't even people to him. He had no connection, no clue.

He's an elitist bastard.

12. And it all sort of moves down to us I think
Business knows it can get away with anything so does, and govt. have no good people to run it or over-see it so it gets bad. I heard a radio show yesterday and people were calling about taxes and not wanting to pay them. Teachers over paid. One even claimed the waiter etc. made min. wages and 1000 a week in tips which they payed no taxes on, all as the rode around on their tax paid roads. Crazy people

2. Wow. That photo of Bush w/Mayor Nagin looks like they just pulled
Dubya out of the spin cycle.

Definitely a different image than the socks-stuffed-in-crotch Mission Accomplished Bush we saw prancing around on that aircraft carrier.

My hunch is that historians are already able to tell that Dubya's presidency is a dismal failure. I don't think a PR pitch is going to turn that tide.

4. Close indeed. Fate would dictate we were due for our own tyrant...
Now we, as a nation, must deal with it and beat tyranny back into it's confines.

11. I can not stand the man my self but I will not count him out
The trouble is his voters want to believe in just what he is saying. Your reason or mine does not come into this. Faith in Bush is the thing with these people. How many have been shown and believe the light of day is what will count. I do not think it is a shoe-in for the Dem. and will not believe they have won until after the election. I also wonder somewhat about the count in some places. Frankly Bush can not let the House go out of his hands. He has to get out of office with out any one looking into the real things that have gone on and he has more damage to do before he leaves. He needs that Far Right House.

16. I think you're right that Dubya needs that conservative, Republican-led
House, but I'm not sure he's going to get it.

I think the House flips blue on Nov. 7th, probably before midnight.

And that puts one John Conyers at the helm of the House Judiciary Committee, and that's exactly the person I want in that chair.

17. I hope with you but still like to see the count.
I still have not got over Gore getting more votes and Bush is President. It has always smelled bad to me.

14. He was SOOOOOO brave to get up there at the WTC with a bullhorn
a scant three fucking days after all the excitement.

I guess he was hiding his cheerleader bullhorn at Offut AFB. :eyes:

15. And yet, with no small amount of irony...
...it is what his handlers want to freeze in time as his "defining moment."...returning to his preppy roots and yelling:

"Gimme a 'M'..."

"Gimme a 'U'..."

"Gimme a 'R'..."

"Gimme a 'C'..."

"Gimme a 'A'..."

"WHAT'S THAT SPELL? 'MURCA! WHAT'S THAT SPELL? 'MURCA! YAAAAAAAAY!"

I personally think his "defining moment" can be found right here:

:patriot:
