So Clinton admin. is pretty much being accused of *dereliction of duty*,
but they're not going to take legal measures to stop the slander from airing?

I don't get it.

1. I thought that
his attorneys had already sent Bob Iger a letter with their concerns about the "docudrama". In the legal world, that's being put on notice that, should this continue, they'll take any and all appropriate measures to right the wrong.

3. Without a warning to cease and desist, this garbage will air,
and there is no getting the genie back in the bottle.
It *will* have impact on the upcoming election.

They need to take forceful measures BEFORE this fraud is perpetrated.

23. My favorite follow up to that (that he didn't actually say) is...
"I read three Shakespeares; The Tempest, Romeo, and Juliet!"

No cities lost, and no rescue and relief turned away during catastrophic events.

I miss democracy.

9. Says 25 different times that Bin Laden could have been captured
...or eliminated, but the Clinton administration and by inference democrats would not do it for fear of public backlash if they failed. Limbaugh says this and Sean Hannity repeated it on their radio shows today.

12. Dereliction of Duty
Is an interesting title for your post because that was the title of a book full of slander that the Clinton's ignored. The book's most spectacular charge was the a chance to kill Bin Laden was spoiled by Bill Clinton, who didn't want his golf game to be interrupted.

The author, a former White House staff member,Colonel Robert Patterson, gave even more wild details to the fable in interviews. In interviews Patterson claimed to not only be a witness to Clinton's dismissal of the matter, Patterson claimed he was part of the chain of communication that was tasked with informing the president of the opportunity. The book itself doesn't source the story or give any hint that Patterson actually witnessed it.

Clinton signed the orders to kill Bin Laden in August of 1998. Patterson's own biography says he left the White House in May of 1998. So there is no way Patterson could have witnessed or taken part in the events.

The whole story was a flat out lie but it was repeated endlessly after 9/11 by the right wing media. Patterson's fiction was part of basic right wing folklore until later books came up with other hoaxes about Clinton letting Bin Laden go.

I guess I wasn't paying attention to MSM.

There has been so much vitriolic reich-wing fiction funded by Mellon Scaife.
I wonder if any of what's been published is actionable.

Edited to add: Patterson sounds like of the swiftboat liars. What an outrageous fabrication.

19. I'm so sorry.
Reich-wing rags seem to be all the rage. There are plenty around -- even in the most "liberal leaning" areas.
Don't think I've ever seen one published by Scaife. Plenty by Murdock though. x(

BTW, welcome to DU :)

20. Trying to discredit Dems in general
Clintons administration is a huge threat to the GOP right now as voters look back at how great things were before Bush took over. The only way they can prop up the failed GOP in November is to re-write history and make Clinton look bad.

It wont work.

22. Good point indeed!
I called for (in another thread) the yanking of this piece of crap from being aired, but maybe I',m wrong....perhaps the best thing would be to air it and prove to the public how low these stealth fascists will go to pull the finger of blame away from the real culprits in the Bush administration.

24. No, IMO you were right for wanting these lies to be pulled.
So many dimwits still believe that Saddam was behind 9-11, even though * himself has admitted he wasn't.
The last thing we need is for reich-wingers rewriting history. Even if most don't believe them.

I was just trying to find a bright side, in the event that this crap does air.

Welcome to DU :)

27. I'm waiting for ABC to do a rewrite on the Cuban Missile Crisis...
the movie was great....I'm sure they can figure out a way to make JFK look scared and confused...and..they could add a scene with
Nikita and Castro taking a stroll around the Russian missile silos, mocking JFK's Boston accent.
