Was there ever a war worth fighting?

My RW rabid cousin asked if I was a pacifist. I'm still working on that one. I can't see how anything in the last 5 years was worth it, VietNam wasn't nor Korea. Can we sleep at night knowing the world would have been in worse shape IF we had not fought in WWI or WWII?? Lets not back beyond that. MY knowledge and ability to debate is limited.

Whether or not such a war has existed is a separate issue...so I guess I'm not much help in pointing out particulars.

6. If war is one of the effects of failed leadership, that would suggest

that good leaders would make war un-necessary. If war is un-necessary, it's not worth fighting or even does more damage than good.

Even a relatively "Just War" such as WWII permanently damaged many individuals. How do you calculate the effects of that damage throughout the course of all of those lives after WWI compared to the very definite good done in stopping the Nazis? It's all relative, especially if you are one of those who suffer or is handicapped somehow because of that damage.

So, aside from direct defense of the homeland, there is no general principle in answer to this question. Each person must evaluate each situaiton and do his/her best to live by their own decisions.
