ABC now saying "it's irresponsible to bash us when we're still editing"
Edited on Thu Sep-07-06 02:28 PM by larissa
According to the show "The Most" on MSNBC a few minutes ago.

They had the head dude from "The Editor and Publisher" on.. (I didn't catch his name)

He said he finds it surprising that they sent the documentary out to only rightwing publications (like himself) and only RIGHTWING radio hosts and asked them to complete a review for them....

...But that ABC did not send the film but to ANYONE on the left..

He said he finds it interesting that only after all the controversy, they (ABC) are now spouting out that they "shouldn't be bashed when they are still in the editing process".

He thinks ABC had no intention of editing the drama before all the hoopla.

Give me a break ABC ....

25. That is surprising.
Because it's really not RW at all. Maybe he is though.

4. They sent out 900 advanced copies.
All to RW operatives of various sorts. The whole shebang was bought, paid for and orchestrated by the GOP.

11. That would be interesting to find out....

The film is airing without commercials. Scholastic books will be distributing the film and a study guide to public schools free of charge. Who else would be behind all of this? I've been trying to figure out they funding but all my leads thus far are dead ends.

5. Right, ABC. Sure you aren't finished editing. Gotta dig through the trash
can and restore all those scenes that tell the truth, right?

Any idiot knows that major editing is complete by this time. No network is still editing a movie 4 days before it's scheduled to air.

To quote Dick Cheney, "Fuck yourself." (I know it should be yourselves, but I wanted to be accurate with his quote.)

I also hope we find some ties to the RNC.

Not too farfetched a hope, I don't think, considering...

9. no way can they substantially edit the movie in time
Is there anybody here who works in TV? Aren't these movies "in the can" long before before they're aired?

I just cannot believe it's SOP to tweak movies till the last minute, especially since the timing has to be precise to the second for TV shows. Sitcoms are taped months in advance, for example.

Who paid for the 900 tapes that were distributed to the RW'ers?
Inquiring minds want to know.
Still editing???

17. I'm perfectly okay with bashing them for putting this tripe together
to begin with. The fact that Tom Kean participated in this slam-fast against the Clinton Administration as effin Chair of the 9/11 Commission is particularly egregious and proof-positive that the report issued from that committee isn't even suitable to line my bird's cage.

18. Two things.
The woman in the film was on Everybody loves Raymond and she is a rabid right winger. Why were they afraid of sending it to Clinon but not
rush the lush? I hope it backfires up their noses. Kean said it was based upon 9/11 hearings but his son is running for Governonr of NJ or Senator I'm not sure which, and I'll bet they shut him up fast. Follow the line Mr. Kean or else. Remeber the guy whose son was running and they shut him up just before last election? Do what we say or your kid will lose.

27. You know what I'd like to see?
First of all, I still don't understand why they only asked RIGHTWINGERS to review the film...

But according to the spokesperson on MSNBC today from the Editor & Journal, when they sent the flicks out.. they included some sort of extensive review for each of them to complete.

I wonder if ANYONE has shown the media sources that weren't privy to the preview, copies of the types of questions they sent along with the P.O.S. film?

Anyone know anything about the questionnaire or whatever it was they included with it? ..

I would REALLY love to see what types of comments and questions it included!!

And IF they are claiming it's not "political" then WHY did they only send it to 'Rashy Limpball types' ???

I just have a feeling ABC is going to wind up in more hot water than they think after this is all said and done (especially after listening to Richard Cohen tear it apart)

Or at least, I hope so!!!!

29. Funny how Michael Moore's F9/11
enjoyed the benefit of having to use nothing more than actual footage of real people and shots of genuine documents and could call itself a documentary without legal recourse from anyone... because it was the truth.

ABC's crap is a PARODY of 9/11 so removed from the truth to provide the GOP with six hours of political pornography that it had to resort to actors and cannot be called a documentary... because it's a made up fantasy made just for the Republicans because that is just how pathetic, desperate and FINISHED they are.

30. Entertainment Weekly gave it a D+ review
titled "Wrong 'Path'" (It's in their T.V. Fall Preview issue w/Patrick Dempsey on the cover.

The review was by Ken Tucker and he ripped it to shreds, expecially with his snarky "see, both the Democrats and Republicans made mistakes"...strained hard to be objective and evenhanded, which made it useless as a drama.
