Chip Reid: If Dems win even only 1 House-an EXCITING 2 yrs for reporters!
MSNBC has been dedicating the entire day to "Election 2006" and has been interviewing everyone under the sun.

At one point, when they were talking to Chris Reid, MSNBC Correspondent, he made a comment to Chris Matthews that went something like....

..."And I'll tell you another thing.... if Democrats can pick up even one House.. even just one.... the next two years of reporting on this Whitehouse are going to be fun for all of us as reporters.

I mean, when you think of the investigations that have been blocked.. the subpeonas that have gone nowhere.. there's millions.. millions of things that are going to make this an exciting time for those of us who report daily on this Administration"

I have a feeling that ALL of the talking heads actually feel that way to some degree.

Regardless of which way they lean politically, the journalist in them has to agree with Chris (even though most would deny it)

3. EXACTLY!
That really pisses me off. We knew they knew it so why did they not report on it? Arghhhhhh, what a disgusting mess.

4. Their Bosses Are NOT Happy
The talking heads all want to maintain the status quo.

The Corporate Media chief ASSHOLES also want to keep things as is.

The last thing they want is for all the LIES and CRAPOLA that they've been hiding these past years, to come out into the open.

Sure, there are some reporters....the Olbermann's, Helen Thomas', David Gregory's....who salivate over the liklihood of a Dem takeover. But they're in the minority. The majority still look up to King george, and want to see his monarchy continue unabated, and WITHOUT investigation which might cause their leader embarassment.

5. Sure. Most of the journalists want the Dems to pick up control. I think

many of them were also bummed with a second term of BushCo. I swear that the MSNBC female anchors the day after the election seemed very depressed but they had all been quite excited during election day - when we were all seeing on the internet the exit polls with Kerry winning big.

That isn't because of the best interests of the Country. They need conflict. A government controlled all by one party has no "INSTITUTIONAL" conflict to cover which equals boring for them.

Their mortgage payments?

8. One problem is that they can cover a story once or twice but without
any additional information, investigation, process, etc. the story just dies.

9. Alot of the facts that WERE available got little media attention - like
the Downing Street Memos.

The DSM incident PROVED media's complicity with BushInc.

11. Even the few that mentioned it had nowhere to go because nothing
happened because of it. Dems tried but without control we couldn't initiate anything serious. It just emphasizes how important it is to have control of at least one branch of the government.

The journalists want the conflict. The corporate owners like having the Republicans in control.

10. Maybe they will give us a helping hand then - us to make their jobs more i
interesting. I'm willing to take any hand-out that will help our cause. And a hand-out from the media is not to be taken lightly.

12. It could be that with Dems in charge, the investigations may go somewhere?
..Maybe that was what Chip was getting at?

I'm not sure what Chip meant.. except that a Dem win will stir things up.. And when things are stirred up, the media loves it.

13. picking up one House won't mean anything unless . . .
ALL Democrats are on board . . . and experience has shown that not a few Dems continually support the BushCo positions on everything from the war to bankruptcy "reform" . . . further, the Dems have shown absolutely no ability to keeps their troops in line, i.e. to vote as a bloc on any issue . . .

taking one House would do nothing more than open possibilities . . . it won't guarantee anything . . .
