Zogby: 65% of Repubs believe Sadaam was involved in 9/11
:banghead: Where does one even begin to fight this ignorance?

49% think it's ok to have your mail searched at random.
62% think regular roadblocks to search vehicles is just fine.
66% believe your purse, handbag, briefcase, backpack, or packages should be searched at random anywhere.

And a whopping 58% think Iraq has been worth the loss of American lives.

18. It really means that they think their President is a liar. Bush has said
there was no link between Iraq and 9/11. He says it and folks just ignore it becuase Bush than turns around and says that Iraq is the central arena for war on terrorism.

5. what's the estimated count of repubs in the country? 35%
compare that with the estimated count of Democrats what 45% and 20% undecided independents.

so 60% of repubs out of the 35% repubs is what, 20-30 million stupid people? why do they continue to allow their rights,my rights and yours to evaporate? Its really a sad commentary.

12. Like your thinking.
The few repubs that have expressed their political views sound like they don't listen to the news, read anything political - - - in other words are deep into making a living, raising a family, going to college, etc. They appear to not have time to know what is really happening in the political arena. It has got to be a sound bite thing that is going on with those type repubs.

So, your calculations make sense. Thanks

7. And 100% of them consider themselves 'patriots'
What the hell do they love about America anyway? The dirt?

It sure as hell isn't the Constitution or Bill of Rights. I don't know which freedom they could possibly love.

It's impossible to debate logically with anyone who believes Saddam was involved in 9-11, despite the lack of any evidence whatsoever and the explicit acknowledgement by the administration that he wasn't involved.

The only 'logical' explanation is that they don't know the difference between Saddam and Osama, which would not surprise me much at all.

17. German Nazis during WWII probably loved Germany for it's freedoms too.
The freedom to adulate the fuhrer, the freedom to extol the virtues of nazism, the freedom to vandalize Jews property and beat up intellectuals and socialists.

8. that's cause they have "nothing to hide"
until someone finds their stash of child porn on their laptop, that is.

But, seriously, that's the most dangerous thing about these people.

The entire Republican philosophy on life seems to be "I got mine, so fuck you"

Since they agree wholeheartedly with the fascist tactics embraced by this administration, and because they know they agree with and worship Bush, they know that they have nothing to worry about from these searches.

Not yet, at least.

But they don't think that far ahead. They don't care.

15. You can't fight it because the secret of it is THEY WANT TO BE IGNORANT
Edited on Wed Sep-06-06 02:50 PM by kenny blankenship
they could base their attitudes and opinions on better facts, but they simply don't want to challenge themselves. They fear that the internal struggle to assess facts for reliability, and to assess the justifications of their consequent beliefs will weaken them.
The central preoccupation of conservatism is fear and its logical remedy is "strength". Conservatives of all stripes--from Burkean traditionalists to Hitlerite Fascists, worship the strength of the country as a kind of abstract deity. This is how they can see the institution of the military, and the largest most powerful corporations, as well as the wealthiest citizens as lit up by a giant collective nimbus of a uniform and unquestionable virtue: these classes of insitutions and individuals are the pillars of the state as far as conservatives are concerned. IN fact, as far as conservatives are concerned the wealthiest citizens, the big companies and the military ARE THE STATE. Everyone and everything else is simply "deadwood" to them--ballast at best, "useless eaters" at worst. If the remainder is happy to obey the real citizens of the country then that constitutes good citizenship; if on the other hand, some of the remainder believe themselves to be their own people, with their own right to be here, and refuse to make themselves the happy obedient tools of the elite classes, then they are shitdisturbers and criminals to be watched, and possibly liquidated. Anything that, in their eyes, enlarges the strength of the country vis a vis other countries is to be encouraged, prioritized, praised and justified no matter what. Anything that would, so they fear anyway, tend to hinder the expansion of their country's power is to be stopped, struck down, vilified and anathematized, no matter what. Of course their lists of what should be promoted and what should be destroyed refers almost exclusively to the interests of their three cherished and valorized pillars of the state. They have no interest whatsoever in questions of what is a just society and whether their society might be made more just or made more environmentally sustainable or just a better place for most people to live. Strength is all to them because Fear is First. The goal of the state is singular in the conservative mind: to survive and fatten itself on whatever resources may be found. It succeeds in this by defending the survival of and fattening the strongest of its constituent members, the elite. All other considerations and all of those who propose other considerations are "the enemy within".

Bringing conservatives out of their conservatism through presentation of more reliable facts rarely works, because just as non-conservatives represent the "enemy within" that conservative paranoia typically fixates upon and reserves for its bitterest vituperations, the invitation to critical examination of facts and to examinations of the linkages between political attitudes and facts, is quite simply received by the conservative as an invitation to host "the enemy within" in his or her own brain. It's like a seduction to "perverse" acts, or an airborne contagion--the reaction for the conservative brain to these invitations is flee or fight. Accordingly they cultivate ignorance of facts, and collect and cherish false "facts" in the face of easily available and more reliable information, as a guard against any willpower-subverting, non-conservative invitations to think things over. It's quite literally true for conservatives that IGNORANCE IS STRENGTH.

16. After being bombarded with statements from
the Busholini Regime indirectly linking Saddam with al Q it is not surprising that so many millions still believe this myth. Yeah, in spite of the fact that Busholini has stated, at least twice that Iraq has nothing to do with the 911 Attacks. Apparently, they don't believe Busholini regarding this.

20. GOP Conservatives are proven to be more drawn to authoritarianism
John Dean pointed that out, citing a study, in his newest book; the amount was just mindblowing - something like 45%. He was pressed by the interviewer, of course, for the percentage of "Leftists" prone to embrace authoritarianism. It was about 2%.

So much for the "leftist authoritarian" bullshit meme.

35. They are stupid. Why meet them half way?
This is why I have a problem with 'moderate' Dems. Why the HELL should our side meet these people half way? Does that mean we should validate these people's fantasies by pretending that they may be partially right? That they may have half a clue? Wrong is wrong.

Meanwhile, as we continue to humor them, their side is on the radio and FoxNews saying that we hate America, and that we want their children raped and then beheaded by terrorists. No wonder we lose.

Let's face them head on - like Wes Clark is doing - and let's get their hands off the damn wheel!

To be a freeper, you just can't be running at more than 100 IQ.- 50 % of the population, ideally.
.65 * .5 = .325.
32.5%- isn't that about the percentage of Republican Kool Aid drinkers in the overall population?
So does it mean that the Republican rank and file is drawn from the crowd with mittens tied to their jackets?
