Labor Day and the Right

You notice how the right has hijacked practically every national holiday and hyped the crap out of it except... LABOR DAY!
Where all the Right Noise on this one?

(Although, depressingly, I got a Labor Day mass mail from a mailing list I'm on that was completely military-themed. I wanted to write back and say: Aren't you confusing today with Veteren's Day? or D-Day? or Pearl Harbor Day? Labor Day isn't specifically about "Our Troops Serving in Iraq")

Look at all those Labor Day Sales. Every one of them represents workers who don't get their own holiday. Every one represents how the greedy right has destroyed this holiday, too.

As a white collar worker, I'm happy to have the day off, but at the same time, this holiday was not created for me. I would feel guilty if I went shopping today.

3. Oh but Labor Day is the big end of the summer sales

and it is the weekend we are all supposed to load our kids in the car and head to the mall and buy, buy buy.
Max out those credit cards because this is the end of the summer sale.
