Would you take this bet?
I say the republicans with their unlimited money, media, fear mongering and electronic voting machines will steal enough seats to hold the majority in November, my friend says....

"I'll bet you something but I can't think of anything
at the moment that you are wrong, that the Republicans
are about to crash big time.

Does that mean that the gates of Paradise shall open?

Nope.

Between now and November is the rest of the hurricane
season, a frightening if predictable increase in the
Iraqi civil war that isn't but is, pressure to perform
effectively against the nuclear programs of Iran and
North Korea. I have to say that a successful anti
missile exercise however carefully staged is welcome
even if it delays grief for the Bushies by about 5 minutes.

Republican insiders smell the fear and its threats to
their interests, and that loose cannon alone can
turn into a wildfire of hysteria. Watch for rats abandoning
ship, lots of them. Many are starting conspicuously
and publicly not to listen to Rove.

It's going to be an interesting 60 days, and maybe a fun one
if Schadenfreude is fun, but whatever the Democrats gain,
they are still as we speak an anemic subset of the
Republicans who are lazily intent on thrusting Hillary
or Dr. Deaniemeanie upon an embittered constituency.

Their biggest error is hard wired into their brains, "Republican
light." Their constituency is somewhere else, like on the
edge of something very drastic and ugly. The two have to give,
and the Democratic leadership had better be prepared to leave
Hillaryism in the dust. What is going to bring the forces
together if anything is the imperative of the natural catastrophes
(plural, you betcha.) If the current edition of Gore ran for president,
I might be happy, especially if the Democrats paved the way for the
next two years by cleaning up the mechanics of elections and
scaring the shit and pajamas out of crooked swine like Florida's
monster, Harris. They won't. They'll just keep sending us letters
that start Dear Al Dear John Dear insignificant ittiebitties and then
proceed to insult us by proclaiming the obvious as if it were
a secret to which we were privy for the very first time. Assholes
all. The last people to learn that the world is not flat are
priests and politicians. But once they learn of it, they sign the
patent for themselves.

While I disagree with your assessment of the chances in the
short run for really putting the hurt to the Bushies, I will
not hold my breath waiting for the Democrats to make full use
of the advantage. They'll fuck up. Just you wait and see.

But at least a few of them have figured out how to spell "global warming."
I would now like them to learn to spell "high treason." "war crimes
tribunal," and "firing squad." Fat chance."

1. I'd bet on your friend...
cause your senario is just depressing.

Besides, we have 2 months to beat into every sheeple we see that Republicans are evil, and the Dems can't do worse.

We need November.

You can give up and wallow in your miserable prediction, but I refuse.

Have a nice day, though! :hi:

However, so was the theft's of 2000, 2002 & 2004.

Your far too presumptuous, I never give up, nor for that matter do I hide my head in the sand....

If my reality or perception offers me (or dictates) an insight which is not to my liking...I won't ignore it...and I will examine thoroughly, the trends, the facts and to me, the obvious.

I'm quite aware "We need November".

By saying it won't happen, won't make it so, one just keeps trying, to the end!

In so much as the bet is how each of us perceive the outcome.

4. I have to agree with you
I have a bet with a Republican who I see at work. He bets the Dems will win (and doesn't want that to happen of course), I bet the Repubs will win (and don't want that to happen of course). I think the bet is a 6 pack of the winners favorite beverage.
