If Maria Cantwell (DINO-WA) wins the primary....
Edited on Sun Sep-03-06 02:32 AM by Cascadian
I am afraid I will just have to hold my nose, hit my head against a wall a few times and vote for Cantwell. I am not going to be happy about it either. My possible vote for Cantwell, and I hope for all hope that she does not get the primary win, will not be my approval or support for what she has done and not done in the Senate. I am referring to her willingness to support Bush's criminal act of invading another country, the Patriot Act, worker-exploiting free trade agreements, and the shift to the ultra-right in the Supreme Court. You can tell me all about how she took on Ted Stevens of Alaska and Enron all you want until you are blue in the face. That does not change what she has done with the other equally important issues. Our rights, our security, and worker's rights are just as important as energy and the environment.

I am tired of our leaders in the Democratic Party compromising their principles and going along to get along. I want the Democratic Party to fight, fight, and fight the Neocons. If we do not have a party that is willing to do this, then democracy in this country and the choices we have in that process are a joke. We need more choices and in fact we need more parties and choices in our electoral process. Why do we need only two parties? How about 5, 10, or 100 political parties? The American people need to have more choices. Unfortunately, we don't and so we are stuck with only two choices. For now anyway.

My vote whoever wins the party's primary will be a Democrat. If it is Maria Cantwell, then I will vote for her but that is as far as I will go. No money contributions, no signs, or volunteering. Just cast my vote and a trip to the toilet to kneel down and.....:puke: I hope the win of Ned Lamont in Connecticut will not be a fluke. I hope there will be a change within the Democratic Party for everyone's sake and this country's sake.

1. I didn't see any terribly appealing candidates in the voter pamphlet
that I got... Who would you vote for in the primary and why?

3. If you remember Slade Gorton, it makes voting for Cantwell a lot
easier.

4. Yes, Gorton was crazy and Cantwell is good on most issues.
I would have no problem voting for her.

my point and I will continue to make this point because it's true. Our political choices ought to not be between Republican and Republican Lite. It is just ridiculous and idiotic. Plain and simple! We are putting the "mock" in deMOCKracy.

8. Your point is totally right on. No argument here. Just remembering
what an utterly corrupt Senator that Gorton was.

An egg sucking dog would have more character, and do a more honest job, than Gorton did.

But yeah, WA could definitely use a Ned Lamont to shake things up.
:hi:

6. I feel the same...
For primary, I voted for Asian Woman candidate... I forgot her name and I didn't care. I remembered watching her ON TV (WA State TV station... kinda like C-Span) and I liked what she had to say.

7. Cantwell is much better than Lieberman. She supported the...
Alito filibuster and does NOT publicly bash the party!

I hope she wins her primary and another term in the Senate!

9. It's simple: do we want Maria or McGavick--saviour of Safeco and
bushco* great white hope of the west. We don't want McGavick. Now is not the time to quibble. Hold your noses, and vote the person with the best chance of defeating McGavick.

10. McGavick also supports phasing out Social Security
Edited on Mon Sep-04-06 01:19 AM by Ignacio Upton
It's people who complain about their candidate in their state that will be complicit if the GOP wins again. People who say "but I don't like Casey/Cantwell/Ford! S/he is a DINO!" need to realize that we are fighting for overall party control of the Senate, and that no matter what you think of you Senator, s/he will vote for Harry Reid as Majority Leader and automatically count as a Democratic vote.

And Maria is no Lieberman. While she has taken some votes that we don't like, she doesn't piss and moan about fellow Democrats at every turn. And she will win the primary, because Washington voters aren't stupid enough to throw up a no-name against Mr. SafeCo.

11. Let's hope that Washington voters use some common sense and not
hand this Senate seat to McGavick on a platter. And bushco* will spend a fortune to win this seat. The rest of the country is starting to wake up to dangers of rethuglicanism. It would be a tragedy if the voters in Washington chose to ignore the warnings.

12. She's too damn corporate for my tastes
It looks like it will be Cantwell on the ballot against McGavick. However, I support Hong Tran in the primary and I got a chance to see her speak locally. She is the real deal and does not back down from her beliefs. THE DEMOCRATS NEED HONG TRAN! Unfortunately, name recognition is not there for her.

13. But we can't not support her if we strive for a majority in the Senate.
If ya can't be with the one you love, honey, love the one you're with.

Sometimes it has to be applied to politics, too.
