Republicans: The "Pee Wee Herman" party.
I don't know if Occam's Hatchet's dkos diary from Friday even made the rounds here at DU, but in any case it's worth a repost.

As many of us have noted Republicans seem to be addicted to psychological projection as a defense mechanism. That is, when you point out what they are, publicly, you can put money in the bank that by next week they will have figured out a way, however tenuous, to accuse you of the same, publicly. The diary does us the service of putting this "I'm rubber and you're glue" schoolchild mentality into a modern cultural frame.

So I'm scratching my head, trying to figure out how we got from "Procter & Gamble Is A Terrorist Organization" to "Nancy Pelosi Is A Nazi," when it hit me:

The Republicans know we're onto them.

Yes, the Republicans know we're onto them, and they are fighting back with the most effective weapon they have left:

Pee-Wee Herman.

How do I know this? I know this because - because - because -

I know you are, but what am I?

1. Well the fact is that the ability to recognize the attributes of others
Edited on Sat Sep-02-06 05:41 PM by patrice
is predicated on the recognition of those same attributes in one's self. The questions are: To what extent does any given person recognize that fact? And, having recognized it, what does any given person DO about it? THAT'S the difference between us and them.

Republicans are the party of "Two Wrongs Make a 'Right'". Democrats are the party of "The Ends Does NOT Justify the Means."

10. AAAAAAAAAAH!

Yeah I feel kinda bad for using Pee Wee's character in this way, but the fit is just too good to pass up.

From the infantile arguing, to the bad hair, to the suit, to the eventual seedy sexual misstep. It all fits!

13. Self Edit
You just made me think of 2 or 3 Pee Wee comments that would permanently get me tombstoned. I will not take your bait.

14. That's pretty disrespectful towards Pee Wee Herman!
Pee Wee Herman is cool! I always saw the Republican Party as more like Pee Wee's arch enemy Francis. If any of you seen "Pee-wee's Big Adventure", you will know what I am talking about. Francis is this fat rich spoiled man-child that wants Pee Wee's prized bike. Just watch the movie and you'll understand why.
