Bushie amnesia
Edited on Sat Sep-02-06 12:17 PM by sknabt
"Many Democrats accuse the president of advocating 'stay the course' in Iraq, but the White House rejects the phrase and regularly emphasizes that it is adapting tactics to changing circumstances, such as moving more U.S. troops into Baghdad recently after a previous security strategy appeared to fail." - The Washington Post

File this under the category "Truth far funnier than fiction".

The Bushies are now whining Democrats are mis-characterizing President Bush's position when they characterize it as "stay the course". Huh? Did I dream of all the Bushies chest pounding about "stay the course"?" Thanks to the folks over at ThinkProgress I'm reminded of all the times President Bush used the term despite his late breaking rash of denials.

4. Adapting the tactics or the spin?
The Bushies claim the fact that troops get redeployed to Bagdad is proof they're not simply staying the course. Are they kidding? That's not a strategic shift. It's a tactical one. Do the fools know the difference? Do the fools think this threadbare disguise will fool even the hardest core conservative faithful?

The Republicans used to be the masters of the talking points. But this is pure desperation. I guess their problem is one of their key talking points is backfiring. "Stay the course" used to make President Bush look strong, decisive, and patriotic. In light of continual violence - no, escalating violence - it makes him look clueless, unimaginative, and rigid in his thinking.

3. Wasn't 'stay the course' an oft-used Poppy phrase? Used so often,
along with 'wouldn't be prudent', in fact, that it was regularly ridiculed?
Bush The Lesser seems to have a REAL 'better-than-daddy' competition thing goin' with Bush The Smarter....
