Brit Hume connects the dots: "Who Really Ended Valerie Plame's Career?"
Anyone surprised by this, raise your hands now.

It was a story that consumed official Washington for three years and was fanned by media reports. But a Washington Post editorial today says the revelation that Deputy Secretary of State Richard Armitage, not a partisan gunslinger, was the original leaker in the Valerie Plame case undercuts what it calls "one of the most sensational charges leveled against the Bush White House that it orchestrated the leak of Ms. Plame's identity to ruin her career" and punish her husband, Bush critic Joe Wilson. The Post flatly declares that it is now clear those accusations are "untrue."

Wilson's attorney continues to insist that White House officials publicly tried to punish him by outing Valerie Plame as a CIA operative and says the paper wrongly implied that he was sent to Niger at his wife's suggestion, though one investigation found just that.

But The Post claims Wilson should have expected that questions about the origins of his mission would point to Plame, saying: "The person most responsible for the end of Ms. Plame's CIA career is Mr. Wilson" himself.

2. So Armitage is not a partisan?
Or is he not a gunslinger?

I am confused.

We see the workings of the 'RWNM' trying to clear Rover and all of the other
scum-skin bags of the Current Administration.

16. About 1.
By 2004 many RWers believed he was the original source for Novak's article. Nobody seriously argued against the assertion--he fit Novak's profile. No later evidence affected the reasoning that lead to Armitage.

But other potential leakers were much more attractive. In the relevant sense of the word.

:silly:

Gotta say, I'm really, really, really disappointed in Harvey Keitel for participating in that drivel ("The Path to 9/11").

"That gives us exactly... forty minutes to get the fuck out of Dodge. Which, if you do what I say when I say it, should be plenty. Now, you've got a corpse in a car, minus a head, in a garage. Take me to it."

He should stick to THOSE kinds of movies.

10. She was outed, there was an investigation, Armitage obviously told
Edited on Sat Sep-02-06 09:04 AM by applegrove
the truth at the start, Judy and Cooper kept their sources hidden. It all would have been over in a month if Libby had told the truth. He choose not to. Rove too - wasn't fully open when he was first questioned. Whose fault is that? Wilson's? Nope. Libby's. Libby could have told the truth and voila - no need to question Judy.

Seems Armitage was one of many who talked to the press. Only obviously he never lied to the grand jury or the FBI or prosecutors.

11. Wait a minute. If the White House was not out to get Wilson
as Hume and the WP editorial claim, and that what Armitage told Novak concerning Wilson's wife's CIA status was simply "offhand gossip", why would Karl Rove confirm to Novak Plame's status? All Rove had to do was simply say, "That's not information I can either confirm or deny" if someone in the media called for confirmation.
