Debbie "Bipartisan" Stabenow--what a wimpy campaign ad for MI Senate.
Yeah, I'll vote for her, but it makes me sick that she wants to work with Repukes instead of bashing their teeth in. She would be further ahead in the polls with a little spine.

2. Well, you gotta expect a little of this...
she's expecting folks like you to carry the cross here, while she runs ads that try to syphon off a few GOP and GOP-inclined independent votes

4. That's not what I'm saying...
I'm saying that snatching a few votes away from her GOP opponent is not only OK, but mandatory. Once she gets elected, she can start kickikng teeth in.

11. She hasn't been "kicking in teeth" while she's been in.
Many of her votes of late have been
"perplexing" at the very least.

6. I will gladly vote for her and Granholm.
Bouchard and DeVos would be horrific.

8. I'm voting for Stabenow, but Bouchard is not DeVos
Bouchard is a conservative, but he is not a bad guy. He is a good sheriff and well-liked by the people of Oakland county. He's not a tax cheat and he didn't make any money by using christianity to bilk people out of their hard-earned dollars. He's anti-abortion and more conservative than anyone I'll vote for, but he's not a scumbag.

Plus, that ad he ran with his daughter and her prospective date was just too funny. I can't hate a guy who can run a humorous campaign ad that isn't an attack on an opponent.

DeVos, on the other hand, is a scumbag who wraps himself in christianity, yet doesn't practice a whole lot of the teachings of Jesus. His family made their money using christianity to bilk potential (SC)AMWAY distributors out of their money. His company got out of paying large amounts of taxes to the canadian government in the 80s because Reagan's people made the charges go away. He wants to force us all to pay lip service to his religion, and use tax money to support private christian schools at the expense of public education. If you think the Bush family is dangerous, well, meet the DeVos family.

7. Let's look at the numbers, shall we?
Edited on Fri Sep-01-06 12:10 PM by JNelson6563
Here in Michigan it is easy to fall into the trap of thinking in luxurious terms...wishing Stabenow would come out roaring like the mighty Feingold or something. Michigan goes blue, right? Yes but...

Have you ever really looked at the numbers? It ain't so blue as ya might think. Outside of a few areas this state is blood red. I have 14 counties within my Congressional Dsitrict. 12 of them are solid Rethug territory. My home county has a 31% Dem base with the Indies up for grabs but heavily pro-life. Mighty rural outside of the southern hubs my friend.

Not everyone in MI has the luxury of Carl Levin's Senate seat for life. The Rethug's offer nothing but sacrificial lambs they coherce into it in opposition to him. For Stabenow's race there was a heated and expensive primary for the opportunity to take her on.

Take a good look before you go throwing stones.

Julie

P.S. Check this out: http://www.record-eagle.com/2006/sep/01trash.htm It was front page, above the fold in this morning's paper in this Rethug stronghold.

9. Since Chimp came to power, it's no virtue to work with Republicans....
because everything they do is for the wealthiest 10%, and everyone else can go Cheney themselves. Any Democrat not on the attack is not looking out for the people.

14. Numbers be damned eh?
Considering how many MI counties are 70% rightward leaning, yeah, I could see how hard core partisan attacks would win this election for Stabenow.

Not.

12. Instead of roaring out like a Feingold,
She creeps in like a Feinstein.
You have a very good assesment on MI. Debbie should talk to Mary Landrieux about that approach. If I remember correctly, she learned very late in her last campaign,to come down heavy on the Pukes. Jean Carnahan never learned.

13. Stabenow
Stabenow was
-One of the few Democratic Senators to vote against IWR
-One of the Democratic Senators who voted against the confirmation of John Roberts and Samuel Alito
-One of the Democratic Senators to vote for the filibuster of Samuel Alito

Why is she so disliked on here? She's one of the better Democratic Senators in terms of her voting record. I would also point out that she is up against a RW toad who has been highlighting her votes to indicate that she is too partisan and obstructionist -hence the advertisements emphasizing her bipartisanship and reaching out to moderate and independent voting blocs.
