Cardin: "i don't believe in a timetable to get out of Iraq."

Mfume: "Unlike my colleague i think we do need a timeframe to get out of Iraq."

1. Mfume: "with me as the candidate, race is off the table and .....
... and we'll *have* to talk about issues." He said this when they each answered the question "Why is your candidacy better to run against Steele, the first Republican who seems to have a chance to win a Senate seat in Maryland in a very long time?"

I like Cardin well enough. I will be voting for Mfume in the primary. He's been my guy since he announced. I see no reason to change now.

2. i especially like Mfume's statements on campaign finance
he walks the walk and Cardin, who isn't all that bad, does not ...

leadership on not taking special interest money means NOT TAKING IT ... if you're not part of the solution, you're part of the problem ... Cardin may have stood up to special interests on the issues he cited but one must avoid not just a conflict of interest but any appearance of a conflict of interest ...

i would like to see Democrats find a way, just for their own primaries, to put ideas and candidates first and money way, way in the background ...
