Gingrich fearful of Pelosi's "San Francisco values"
COLUMBIA, S.C. - Ex-U.S. House Speaker Newt Gingrich said Wednesday that the thought of California Rep. Nancy Pelosi becoming the next leader of the House and being third in line to the presidency is frightening.

"The prospect of her bringing San Francisco values and a whole attitude on foreign policy that is, I think, an attitude of weakness and appeasement and surrender, I think, would be a disaster for the country," the outspoken Republican said.

Gingrich said keeping power out of the hands of Pelosi, the House minority leader, and other Democrats is one of the reasons he was in South Carolina this week raising money for the GOP.

18. Totally code for Gay but here are the stats ..............
Edited on Thu Aug-31-06 04:42 PM by gbrooks
Male San Franciscans 394,828 (50.8%)

Gay male San Franciscans 20% of the male population

Rough calculation 60,000 gay men out of a total
population of 789,656 equals 7.9% of San Francisco
citizens identify as gay males.

San Franciso has fewer gay citizens by percentage
than the nation as a whole.

What erks RWer's is that San Francisco is proud
of it's status as the most gay friendly city in
America. Which is why the they (RW's)call it San Fransicko.

SF is not Sodom by any stetch. In fact it is the safest
and most interesting city in the US.

21. No offense, but re-check your stats
"Male San Franciscans 394,828 (50.8%)
Gay male San Franciscans 20% of the male population"

The above stats mean gay males are about 10% of the total population.

"Rough calculation 60,000 gay men out of a total
population of 789,656 equals 7.9% of San Francisco
citizens identify as gay males."

The above stats don't match the first set of stats.
Are gay males 20% of the male population, or are they 60,000?
I think your rough calculation was too rough. If it's 20% of the male population which is 50.8% of the total population, it's more like 80,000 gay men. Additionally, what about counting lesbians?

"San Franciso has fewer gay citizens by percentage
than the nation as a whole."

The reason I'm being a nit-picky jerk is that your statement above is simply not true, just on the face of it. San Francisco has a reputation as a gay friendly city for a reason; there are a lot of gays there and gays are certainly a higher proportion of the population of San Francisco than they are in the rest of the country.

22. Yep, that's EXACTLY what it is.
It's the same thing for the assholes who make snide comments putting down "New York" humor or attitude or values or whatever. It's code for Jewish.

HAH! I guess they're just not man enough to stand there and say what they mean out in the open. They have to wimp around with cutesy little code words. What - does every CONservative get a special decoder ring or something when they register as a republi-CON? SHHHHH! Maybe it comes in a special "republics-only" cereal box.

2. Code speak
Translation: The gays. Horrors!

That bastard should talk about values. I don't believe she's ever visited her husband in the hospital to tell him she's divorcing him.

6. We should all be afraid of San Francisco values:
housing costs way too much there. And that's a shame, because it's such a great place.

20. Hey Newtie, remember Susan Smith and your big fat mouth?
Newt, displaying how he just reflexively associates his opponents with "push their hate buttons" items, once attributed Susan Smith's drowning of her two children to "Democrat(ic) values".

Shortly thereafter, it came out that, growing up, Smith had been routinely molested by her stepfather, the local head of Pat Robertson's Republican presidential nomination bid, and later became the local head of the Christian Coalition. Keen observers figured out for themselves which likely had the greater impact on Smith's values.
