Giuliani endorses Allen for re-election to Senate
By SONJA BARISIC
Associated Press Writer

NORFOLK, Va. (AP) -- Former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani endorsed U.S. Sen. George Allen's re-election bid as he joined the senator Wednesday for a briefing on port security and a private fundraising luncheon - the second time in two weeks that Allen has appeared with a possible rival for the 2008 GOP presidential nomination.

Giuliani, best known nationally for his leadership following the terrorist attacks on New York City five years ago, has been traveling around the nation speaking on behalf of Republican candidates.

Allen brought the popular former mayor with him to Hampton Roads as he tries to recover from the fallout from his ill-chosen remarks to a campaign volunteer for his Democratic challenger, Jim Webb.

"It's invigorating to have Mayor Giuliani's support," Allen told reporters after the briefing as he and Giuliani stood on the docks at Norfolk International Terminals, the Singapore container ship California Luna in the background. "He helped me out in 2000 and he's helping me out once again."

To ask America's Mayor if he endorses George Felix Allen's racism?

7. Webb, always the gentleman sez:
"....Asked to comment about the joint Allen-Giuliani appearances, Webb focused on the differences between the conservative Allen and more moderate Giuliani, who supports gun control, legal abortion and gay rights.

"I think they ought to discuss each others' views on social issues," Webb said, declining to elaborate...."

10. If Webb continues with this aloof attitude, he is gonna get

trounced in November. I dont see any fire in him as a challenger. This campaign is being run like he is the imcumbent with a 20% point lead in the polls. I am starting to lose confidence that he can win this race.

9. Does he really think the crazy right is going to accept him?
I know that Falwell has said kind things about him (which should tell St. Rudy that he's doing something wrong), but seriously -- the rank and file will never allow a pro-choice, pro-gay rights nominee. Ever.

17. Why should Virginians care what Giuliani thinks? I doubt this helps Allen.
In fact it may hurt him with the wing nuts.
