Brian Williams Interviews a pretty incoherent Bush

Brian Williams Interviews a pretty incoherent Bush

Countdown covered Brian Williams interview with Bush last night.

For someone who does not like how the public perceives him, Bush does not help his case any in this interview. Take this little exchange:

WILLIAMS: When you take a tour of the world, a lot of Americans e-mail me with their fears that, some days they just wake up and it just feels like the end of the world is near. And you go from North Korea to Iran, to Iraq, to Afghanistan, and you look at how things have changed, how Americans are viewed overseas, if that is important to you. Do you have any moments of doubt that we fought a wrong war? Or that there’s something wrong with the perception of America overseas?

BUSH: Well those are two different questions, did we fight the wrong war, and absolutely — I have no doubt — the war came to our shores, remember that. We had a foreign policy that basically said, let’s hope calm works. And we were attacked.

Last week Bush said that he never implied any connection between Iraq and 9/11, yet both Iraq and the War on Terror have again been lumped together and Bush says that the war "came to our shores". Sure the war with terrorism did, but the war with Iraq did not come to our shores. Is it any wonder why people say the White House has tried to link Saddam and 9/11?

2. Saw it yesterday.
Now, I'm never impressed by Der ChimpenFuhrer's attempts at communication, but this interview was a real doozy. He was slurring all over the place, and the entire time I watched, I was thinking, "Tony Snow's a damned fool to put this incoherent dry drunk all alone with Brian Williams."

Incompetence abounds throughout the administration. He embarrasses his nation in perpetuity

12. I think he left his teeth in a glass. I was puzzled by the way his
mouth moved. He either had no teeth or was bombed out of his mind. It wasn't just what he said but also how he said it. Although I think Brian Williams could have conducted a more powerful interview, he did enough to make our fearless leader look like the idiot he is. Just give the prez an unscripted situation and he will be sure to screw up.

7. Bush looked pretty terrible in that bright sunlight.
Actually, I'm a bit surprised that he didn't shrivel up, Dracula-like, as a result of being exposed to sunlight. And oh, my God, that guy fell out of the stupid tree and hit every branch on the way down. It was apparent that he was completely flummoxed when Williams asked him what The Stranger was about -- he stammered and danced and said "Well, I read three Shakespeares."

In-fucking-credible.

27. He was standing so close to Williams
as to invade his personal space, by American standards. Usually this is only done by drunks. Of course, in the Angela Merkel encounter, he showed he's immune to any customary standards about such things.

28. Have you seen the video
on YouTube. It compares Bush of ten years ago to the Bush of today. It shows clips of speeches he's given. It was amazing. Ten years ago he was sharp, focused and actually a good speaker. Compare that with the slow, stuttering confusion he shows today. It really is a startling difference.

The conclusion...Presenile Dementia.

31. Makes you wonder
how anyone in their right mind could actually say he made sense during the 2004 debates! Still there is a similarity over the ten years: He was lying then and he's lying now.
