Jerry Fallwell: "U.N. is the infrastructure, the stage for the AntiChrist"

From Falwell's August 27 sermon at the Thomas Road Baptist Church in Lynchburg, Virginia, where he serves as senior pastor:

FALWELL: I expect the Lord to return in the 21st century to Rapture at his church. Now, I can't prove that. I cannot prove that the Lord is gonna come in this century. No one knows the day or the hour, but in my heart I believe it because there are no more predicted events that need to happen before our Lord can return.

I expect a global economy in the 21st century, which first will manifest itself as a cashless society. I believe that plastic will take the place of cash, and that while this will only be fulfilled during the tribulation period at the Rapture, I believe that God is setting the stage for, and laying the infrastructure for, a cashless society right now. Most people, many pay their bills online already. And the day will come, I believe, when there will be no cash, and the only way you can get cash and trade and to do business is to have the mark of the beast.

And then I expect the nations of the world in the 21st century to move rapidly towards a one-world government. We already have the U.N. -- it's a useless bunch. But we've already got the U.N., and they will not be the one-world government, but they are the infrastructure, the stage on which the Antichrist will build his one-world government.

3. A cashless society? Funny how he talks money and rapture.
Like they're linked in his mind.

Wow, cash means the mark of the beast. So send all yours to Jerry and he'll wash it clean in the blood of the lamb.

23. The "cashless society" thing has been around since the 70's
These same people freaked out when all products began to have Universal Product Code (UPC) barcodes.

26. Yeah, I guess Jerry missed these verses......
Proverbs 23:21 for drunkards and gluttons become poor, and drowsiness clothes
them in rags.

30:21 "Under three things the earth trembles, under four it cannot bear
up:
22 a servant who becomes king, a fool who is full of food,

Luke 12:19 And I'll say to myself, "You have plenty of good things laid up
for many years. Take life easy; eat, drink and be merry."'
20 "But God said to him, 'You fool! This very night your life will be
demanded from you. Then who will get what you have prepared for yourself?'

Philippians 3:19 Their destiny is destruction, their god is their stomach, and
their glory is in their shame. Their mind is on earthly things.

32. If you were the Antichrist, would you have a ferret on your face?
According to the Bible, the Antichrist is supposed to be a charismatic speaker and charming enough to decieve millions. I'm not sure John "even worse than Michael" Bolton fits that description. It also means that Chimpy can't be the Antichrist, because he's too fucking stupid, and has already pissed off the entire planet.

11. What is exactly is wrong with a cashless society in his mind?
Why doesn't he find cash itself wrong, and insist on barter?

If no one knows the day and time, it might not be until the 33rd century, why does he not get that?

What a moran.

35. Yep
Because when someone acts on these loony rantings (Jerry won't because he knows they're loony), he'll tut-tut, act all surprised (again), and admonish his flock that while he was using the language of the apocalyptic, he certainly didn't expect (wink, wink) that anyone would act on his words as if they were the gospel truth.

Let's face it: If what Falwell is saying is the actual, literal truth, as sure as saying that the sun will come up in the east tomorrow, and I think he wants his listeners to believe that it is so, then they must act in a loony manner. To do less would be to betray a substantial portion of humanity to the depredations of Evil, and there can be no excuse for that, can there?

It would be as if someone saw a runaway car bearing down on an infant in the roadway and did nothing to whisk the babe out of the way and just watched as the car squished it. That is, if Falwell truly believes what he's saying, and not just cynically manipulating his followers for his own pecuniary gain.

It amazes me that so many people believe so ardently in the scribblings of bronze age goat herders.

22. The sooner the better!
I am an Anti-Christ.
I am B.

I was not born a sinner, and I don't need to be saved, thank you very much!
People just need to be people and do the right thing.
When you don't do the right thing, you should say "I'm sorry."
That's it!
Don't need no jeebus to save me, don't need no preacher freaks to tell me what to do, what to think, what to believe, how to live and die.
The sooner we all become anti-christs, the sooner people like Falwell will be out of a job.
Then maybe they'll have to actually become productive members of society, rather than leeches feeding off the blood of the frightened.
I am an Anti-Christ.
You could be too!

29. It's always about the money...
These bottom feeders have made a very good living pretending to be God's spokesman in America...

Funny how even when talking about the rapture it is tied to money!!!

A cashless society will be good for Jerry, it'll make it easier for him to bilk his gullible followers!

31. Man, and I thought it was the Vatican I was supposed to fear!
So, which is going to produce the anti-christ?

Jack Chick and Bob Jones U say it's the Vatican.

Now Jerry Falwell is saying it's the UN.

Who is right?

Personally, I tend to go with the biblical scholars who say that the Revelation is symbolic of the end of the roman empire. 666, spelled out through Hebrew numerology, spells NERO, according to some scholars.

Metaphysical christianity speaks about how the end of the world/prophetc biblical writings symbolize mankind freeing itself from the clutches of materialism.
