Old Hat-but I REALLY want to recommend the movie "The Corporation"
Edited on Mon Aug-28-06 08:34 PM by nam78_two
Just saw it.....

I know its old and many have probably seen it already...but for those who haven't seen it-do yourself a favor and check it out :).
I meant to watch it at some point, but overall I thought, "I am sure I will agree with everything in there but its unlikely I will learn anything"...

I cannot say (as in the case of "An Inconvenient Truth" too) that any of it surprised me or was news to me...But still, seeing it all together has that POW to it...

Do watch it if you can!
Awesome movie :headbang: -I just wish the people that REALLY need to see it -the "free-markets take care of every damn thing" zombie libertarians would watch it...

2. Great film...
It's played a big part in reshaping my view of capitalism in the last few years.

4. Its a documentary
Edited on Mon Aug-28-06 08:49 PM by nam78_two
My bad-I meant documentary...

The people I recognized in there were Howard Zinn, Noam Chomsky, Michael Moore and Vandana Shiva.

And then a handful of consumer advocates, a few people still in the corporate world.

Its one of those instances, where at least in my humble opinion, all stuff one knew as an environmentalist, pro-working class lefty, generally speaking...
But the details are still fascinating and inspiring...

It reminds me why the things I am fighting for are worth fighting for.

I would highly highly recommend it:

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0379225/

Its all covered in there in differing degrees of detail:

environmental degradations, human rights abuse, animal abuse (factory farming, habitat destruction etc. -always resonates with me), corruption, deception etc. etc.

I am still reeling from this number: a worker in a third world county gets three tenths of one percent of the retail price of the goods they make, that are sold here....
Again-not surprising-but seeing that cold statistic, the number gives even someone like me a pause...

The Siege! And the guy who wrote that just wrote a great book about the Middle East!

Great movie, Denzel Washington, Bruce Willis and HER! I LOVE her and can't think of HER name! Great actress... Dated Warren Beatty a long time ago, great movie with Goldie Hawn & Bette Midler and HER! My name memory bank is shot today!!! Looking for Mr. Goodbar! Great movie recently with Jack Nicholson! 9. I agree with you on the zombie faction.
They need to get their heads out of Ayn Rand's dead ass.

I LOATHE Ayn Rand and her objectivist-crap....
when I was 14, her crap appealed to me for about a year- as a selfish, self-centred, self-obsessed and highly annoying teen, in a somewhat right wing, pro-free market family, I bought it for about a year....:eyes:

Then I grew up...
