Reid needs to be replaced ASAP
Lieberman won't help Democrats in Conn, but doesn't rule out helping other Republicans. Why has Harry Reid assured Lieberman that Joe will keep seniority positions in the Senate when Joe has all but formally become a Repugnant? Reid, another Bush whore.

1. Reid is a conservative Democrat
and an anti choicer, to boot. What else did you expect?

3. All the more reason
Reid needs to go and so does Pelosi. We need strong leaders that are true to the Party and its origins.

2. Because if Lieberman wins in CT we'd like him to vote Democratic
which he has on most issues, except for a few biggies like Iraq, etc.

Sometimes you catch more bees with honey. Better not burn a bridge we may need if something goes wrong in CT. We may need him to effect a Dem majority.

7. oh sure great strategy
by trying to catch more bees with honey, Dems have lost everything since 2000 but their undies. Enough is enough.

Either they show real guts before November or it´ll be easier for Repugs to steal yet another election.

11. Yeah, it's much better strategy to push him to vote Republican (not)
Edited on Mon Aug-28-06 05:35 PM by AtomicKitten
While that scorched earth tact is dramatic and all that, sometimes strategy requires smart thinking. Doing what you are suggesting would ensure another seat for the Republicans if by change Lieberman wins. I hope to god that doesn't happen, but if it does, the smart thing would be to keep Lieberman as much as possible in the fold. It's very possible it could make a difference.

4. I don't see reference to Reid in that article.
What's your source for such an alleged assurance to Lieberman?

12. so Lieberman says that's what Reid said?
You don't believe anything else he says, why would you believe this?

Seems like pretty shaky ground to be building your attack on Reid on.

6. It never ceases to amaze me that the Dem's pick leaders...
from vulnerable, fairly conservative districts. Daschle had the same problem and it puts the leadership in an awkward position.

15. Perhaps it's part of "The Waltz" to give us peons "Bread and Circuses"?
Edited on Mon Aug-28-06 05:44 PM by ShortnFiery
Otherwise they are hopelessly incompetent. I would like to believe the latter but know better. Many of our good representatives are "on the take" and/or invested up to their eyeballs in the Corporations of The Military Industrial Complex. :(

8. So tell us who you think it should be and why
And how they will bridge the fairly wide range of views that are reflected by Senate Democrats.

14. Not a bad choice, but my bet is that Teddy's position on Lieberman
Edited on Mon Aug-28-06 05:40 PM by onenote
would be the same as Reid's. In fact, I'm pretty sure any and every Democratic Senator would welcome Joe into the caucus (and would not object to his getting a committee chairmanship) if having Joe caucus with them means the Democrats regain control of the Senate. (Of course, I personally think this will be a moot question because Lamont will come on strong and end up winning the election).

17. Reid never said any such thing
I also read that on a blog in the past few days and found that the so-called statement by Reid was actually the conclusion of some right wing pundit in one of the news mags.

18. I agree and for more than just his support of Lieberman
Edited on Mon Aug-28-06 06:16 PM by OzarkDem
He's been a failure from the beginning, afraid to speak out on behalf of the party. No plan, no vision, nothing. He's an empty suit.
