Yanno what pisses me off? The King Prawns and the Champaign
I mean, jeeeze. We hadda pay for that Homeland Security guy to make the trip from Bangkok. I understand that. But why did I have to pay my taxpayer share of the king prawn and champaign meal that guy had on the way?

I don't mind the media circus, even when the time could have gone to looking into .... I dunno ........... something meaningless like vote count cheating or who outed a CIA agent. I mean, this is a murder story and all.

I hope every media whore camp follower gets a blocked colon, fills up with their own shit, and explodes.

What a fucking WASTE OF TIME and what a distraction of attention from REAL ISSUES. You know, SHIT THAT MATTERS.

AAAAAAAAlice ..... I wanna be back on the outside of this fucking Looking Glass!

1. Wait till you find out he got a free sex-change while in custody
Edited on Mon Aug-28-06 04:19 PM by Kickoutthejams23
:sarcasm: (The above comment was a snarky reminder that some people including those on this board favor state paid sex change operations for prisoners.)

16. Big thread started in GD on May 31, now archived
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_topic&forum=364&topic_id=1319013

A lively and at times contentious discussion in which several DUers advocated using public funds to pay for sexual reassignment surgery for a convicted murderer.

18. If it is in fact medically necessary then the state has to do it.
I don't think the idiot you are referring to can make the case in court that it is medically necessary, so it won't get done. But if he can, then so be it. Would you be against an appendectomy as well?

22. The issue came down to whether it was necessary to prevent suicide
Edited on Mon Aug-28-06 04:27 PM by slackmaster
By Michelle Kosilek, who is a drama queen as well as being a long-term prison inmate without much to do besides play games with people.

Some people consider SRS to be a medical necessity for some individuals because they will kill themselves if they don't get it. I disagree, I think it is elective surgery. There are other ways to prevent suicide.

Would you be against an appendectomy as well?

Please note that the topic was brought up by Kickoutthejams23, not me.

No, of course not. Inmates deserve to get the state to pay for any medically necessary procedure, including dental and vision care.

23. Sorry 'bout that.
I think we agree. If Kosilek can prove medical neccessity, then he gets his surgery. Like I said, I really doubt he will be successful.

27. So WTF Does That Have To Do W/ This?
Edited on Mon Aug-28-06 08:52 PM by Beetwasher
Nothing, except it's an opportunity to slam DU'ers. Now, I wonder why someone would bring that up for no reason? Why "remind" people of that? Any reason? How is it relevant?

4. It's easier to control someone in biz class
Smaller space, separated, fewer people in the aisles, more room to move around in the event you have subduing to accomplish.

That said, why didn't they run some DNA on that dipshit by grabbing his plastic fork and soda can after he ate a meal while free in Thailand?

Why go through this circus, it is simply a distraction....

I have a feeling there are probably a few little girls in Thailand who have one less perverted customer to deal with, though.

14. I'm just saying that most likely his desires were in the other direction.
It seems that the facts are that he actually isn't being charged with anything anywhere, not in Colorado, not in California, not in Thailand. Much ado about nothing. He might be a sicko, but not a criminal sicko.

19. Well, his ex wife was THIRTEEN when he married her
And she indicated that she 'feared for her life and safety.'

There oughta be a damn law.

There's definitely something wrong with that boy.

Clearly, Karr was drawn to young girls. He married 13 year-old Quintana Shotts Ray when he was 19, after instructing her to lie about her age. He married his second wife, Lara Knutson, when she was just 16, he was 25.

After his 2001 arrest for child pornography in Sonoma County, his wife divorced him and took out a restraining order, saying John Karr "had a tendancy to be too affectionate with the (school) children".

6. If he flew first or business class
then on international flights they have this odd concept of 'meal service' with menus and drinks etc. I know, its odd and foreign to us here who fly cattle class domestic and get a package of cardboard bits called 'a snack', but that's what you get on those international flights. Its like it was in the old days, before we deregulated everything into crap.

12. I'm being snarky
The business class travel is waaranted - assuming the arrest was righteous in the first place. They always fly prisoners in the more limited contact area of the plane.

The meal, as you point out, is part and parcel of the flight service and yes, even in steerage, the meals served on long hauls is first rate. In fact, they got at least four meals on that flight, if not more.

My bitch was about the larger situation. It was all bullshit.

One would think that the alibi would have been checked out and verified before hauling his ass first class from bangkok. DNA? they didn't need the damn DNA, the idiot wasn't in bolder when the crime was committed. Where the heck is Colombo asking the tough questions?

I've watched the flick probably 5 times since I got it on DVD, it's mind boggling. And amazing to compare the media of the 1950s to today's media. Not much has changed, really.
