Joe responds "sharply" to Ned's criticism about Brown's confirmation
...by not responding to that criticism at all-

The Feint:

Mr. Lieberman also responded sharply on Friday to Mr. Lamont’s assertion that Mr. Lieberman, as the ranking member of the Senate Homeland Security Committee, did not do enough to question the qualifications of Michael Brown before he was made director of the Federal Emergency Management Agency.

In a news conference here on Friday, Mr. Lieberman said that he had been extremely critical of the Bush administration’s handling of Hurricane Katrina.

Hmmm. So, no defense at all about Brownie's 42 minute confirmation -barely enough time to determine his creds as a horse lawyer. Then Joe turns the tables, pinning Ned with the ultimate dis: "Oh yeah? Oh YEAH? Well where were you, Mr. Clear Winner of the Democratic primary?"

Whatever will Ned do? Since he was a private citizen at the time, how can he possibly have an answer that will prove he's an involved, compassionate and capable alternative to Joe The Sudden Bush Critic?

“Where was Ned Lamont and what was he up to when this was happening?” Mr. Lieberman said.

Mr. Lamont has said that his family donated money to relief agencies and that his communications company offered to help college campuses in the Gulf Coast region.

:applause:

2. Lieberman's off his rocker
One of the cardinal rules in politics is you never issue a challenge or ask a question unless you know what your opponent's response will be. Lieberman issued a big fat challenge, and it's blown up in his face like an exploding cigar. How did this simpering little twit win election three times? He's on a course now to lose three of the last four races of his political career or becoming a latter day Harold Stassen.

You're a joke, Joe. Retire from the field with what little shreds of dignity you have left. And if that's not possible, just retire from the field.

3. If I were the Lamont people, I think my response would be
something to the effect of, "I would like to remind Mr. Lieberman that oversight was HIS job, not that of
a private citizen, and that he should make up his mind: First he is mad that Ned Lamont wants what he
thinks is HIS job, and then he is mad that Ned hasn't already been doing what should have been HIS job!"

4. Lamont could turn that one into a real joke --- against LIEberman
Lamont could say he was watching what Joe WASN'T doing, and deciding that he (Lamont) should run for office, so New Hampshire would be better represented.
