Poll: Arkansans favor Hillary Clinton over Huckabee in 2008 (Clark too)
LITTLE ROCK Former Arkansas first lady Hillary Rodham Clinton and retired Army General Wesley Clark, both Democrats, were the favored candidates over Republican Governor Mike Huckabee among Arkansans polled about hypothetical 2008 presidential races.
Opinion Research Associates of Little Rock conducted the survey for Arkansas News Bureau-Stephens Media Group.

In a head-to-head matchup, 49 percent of respondents said they would vote for Clinton, 36 percent favored the governor, and 15 percent were undecided.

In a matchup between Clark and Huckabee, 51 percent favored Clark, 37 percent said they would vote for Huckabee, and 12 percent were undecided.

7. The "Clark too" meant Clark is favored over Huckabee too
Not that Clinton was favored over Clark.

The actual headline for the article doesn't mention Clark at all, interestingly enough.

12. Wonder why the headline doesn't mention Clark considering that
Edited on Sat Aug-26-06 05:37 AM by FrenchieCat
the poll seems to indicate that he fares the best overall.

I found the reporting of the poll in another newspaper-
http://www.arkansasnews.com/archive/2006/08/25/News/337438.html

In this one, Wes Clark is mentioned in the headline (good!)

And I love this part....(Clark is out of the country, but his spokesman replied)

"Clearly, Gen. Clark enjoys the advantage of the stature gap that exists between the two men. He is an international statesman as well as a son of Arkansas, and that's tough competition for anybody."

19. I know that. Duh
Edited on Sat Aug-26-06 09:09 AM by Clark2008
I mean that more people would vote for him over Huckabee than her. And the headline - in both the newspaper and this post should have reflected the top vote-getter, not the Republicans choice for the Democratic nominee.

8. Please people!
Huckabee is a joke! He's a Baptist preacher by trade....just what our country needs to resolve all the international crises that are bubbling up around the world. Besides, he has a "willie horton" incident in his background. Google Wayne Dumond. And he has 'clemencied' a bunch of other murderers and rapists too.

13. There is already a Democratic Candidate.....whom Clark supports,
and who appears to be poised to win.

Plus, it would be a shame to have a Foreign Policy, national security expert, Peace Treaty negotiatin' "right all along on the war" Democratic 4 star Rhodes Scholar confined to keeping only Arkansas safe.

Keep in mind that Arkansas isn't the only state in the union who needs to have its reputation and integrity restored round the world.

20. Let's see what board you came from?
Your spelling... check
Your Republican talking points that have debunked over and over and over again on this board.... check.
The fact that you even have those facts wrong... check.

Why I do declare. I think you're from a land far, far away. One in which emotions trump facts and brainwashing is par for the course.

21. oh Gawd...
Did you know Al Gore said he invented the internet?

John Kerry's wounds in Vietnam were self-inflicted!

The Clintons murdered lots of people who stood in the way of their evil ambitions!

Since you're repeating stale, long-refuted "information" on General Clark, I'm sure you already know all these "facts," too.

15. Also interesting....
Thirty-seven percent had an unfavorable opinion of Clinton, 35 percent thought unfavorably of Huckabee and 15 percent for Clark.

Both Clinton and Huckabee had 98 percent name recognition, to Clark's 63 percent.

24. I'm curious
If there's anyone from Arkansas who can elaborate on the findings of this poll. Is this home-grown distaste for Huckabee's candidacy, or is Hillary much better-liked in Arkansas than I - and I think most other people - assumed? I had the impression she was not as popular as Bill in the state, and there might be some resentment for going off to New York and establishing a political base there. I kinda wish they'd tested Hillary and Clark against other Republicans to see if this is really a pro-Hillary, pro-Clark, pro-Dem feeling or just an anti-Huckabee warning shot from his constituents.

Because if Hillary could win Arkansas, that really would change my sense of her electability.
