So my Bush-supporting co-worker sits in my office and sees a sign
in my window ...

A little setup: I work in Cleveland, not within view of the city where people could see it, but if someone looks up at the right moment, they see it before they cross the bridge.

The Republicans are in town getting their asses kissed, trying to convince us that, if we kiss their asses and rings enough, we might have a chance of hosting the RNC convention in 08. (Usual lament you hear all the time - no convention center, not enough hotel rooms; plenty of hookers, though, if you believe the rhetoric; casinos might help that, but you know Repukes ...)

So the sign is in 72 point Ariel font on white 8.5 X 11 paper. Says "REPUKES GO HOME".

Now, back to my co-worker. I've documented a good bit of his anti-Dem stuff here. He's the one who turned purple defending Bush's war; has a son who works as an EMT, so his kid is old enough and in good enough shape to go to Iraq. Several left-leaning co-workers have had their kids in Iraq and returned safely. Not this guy. His kid is making "good money" as a civvie (Daddy did serve in Vietnam).

He notices my sign in the window. Tries to read it. Figures it out.

Gives me the finger.

Well, I knew his flirtation with considering the Dem candidate for Governer was too good to be true.

He did claim that he isn't a Republican, he votes as he "researches" ...

1. Well, he should research this: BCCI - Bush - Bin Laden - Kerry
and see what he learns.

Then tell him to research Bush - Rev Moon - Unification church - fishing industry - water rights

7. I get ill every morning
when I pick up the Pee Dee and see the latest slobberfest over trying to bring the GOP convention to Cleveland.

What do they want, to visit the scene of their crimes and gloat over how they've done their best to screw over a good city?

We shouldn't give them the satisfaction. Its appalling how Voinovich and DeWine have allowed the GOP to screw over northeast Ohioans with nary a complaint from the news media.

11. Yeah, my neighbor claims to be a Libertarian
but he's really a Republican. Dontcha hate these types? This guy grouses about all the taxes he has to pay to the city of New Haven and he's on a crusade against the mayor. Well, why the hell did he move here?

Good luck with your clueless repuke.

13. So the mayor decides what the taxes will be and he doesn't...
need to have the city council approve it.

15. It's a "strong mayor" city. He does need approval from the
Board of Aldermen. Our mayor is now running for governor against Jodi Rell ("Mother REll" as we call her). Mayor DeStefano is an aggressive guy and I'm not too fond of him personally but he's done a good job for New Haven and I think he'd make a great governor. Unfortunately, Rell is very popular, despite her having been LT. gov. for a corrupt gov., John Rowland, who just got out of the pokey. DeStefano's narrow win in the Dem primary against Stamford mayor Dan Malloy was completely overshadowed by the Lamont/Lieberman race, as you can imagine.

BTW...Not all of us call Republicans Repukes; we're a pretty diverse bunch here, and some take a higher tone, some take the low road, and many have just learned to hit back when we get slammed as "DUmmies", "Moonbats", or when "Liberal" gets equated with "traitor", etc. Some of us DO :puke: though, when certain Republican names get mentioned or we see or hear particularly revolting statements by certain Republicans.

Oh, and if the first article doesn't answer, try this one:
