"Stay and Pay Republicans"
The Republicans have launched their barrage, calling anyone who disagrees with Bushco a "cut and run Democrat".

A fellow DUer suggested the phrase "Stay and Pay Republicans".
This phrase stuck in my mind. Perhaps it will stick in the minds of November voters as well. It's short, concise and accurate.

Whenever discussing Iraq, I use this expression to describe Republicans and it gets a very good reaction.

Do you agree? Can we push this phrase into the public square?

Hopefully "Stay and Pay" will enter the public discourse...soon. And many thanks to the DUer who coined it!

3. Works for me. The important thing here, that you're exploiting rather

shrewdly, is the quick-hit, clever, easy-to-remember, short-syllable, word-picture slogan. It's all sales and sales pitch. It's why "Lie and Die" works, too. "Stay and Pay" is another good one. It's short. Crisp. Three words. Better yet, three syllables. Remember, we're working under a handicap - THEIRS. All mental, all very much like their "leader" - extremely limited and cut-n-dried/black-or-white/all-or-nothing/with us-or-agin' us. They don't like to do nuance any more than His Imperial Pea-brainedness does. So unfortunately we're compelled to lower ourselves to their level. But that's how you get through, and it needs to be exploited for what it is. As that shithead rummy might say, "you go to war AGAINST the army you have, not the one you want or wish to have." THAT is what we have to work with - that numb, dumbed-down mindset for most of 'em (the ones who are ripe for manipulation - and guidance, hopefully, perhaps even towards enlightenment).

And if it rhymes, so much the better! It's not only quick and clever, but it's that much easier to remember.

If it sticks in the mind, it'll stick to the tongue.

EXCELLENT thinking and strategizing!!!

K&R!!!

I am awed by the resourcefulness, shrewdness, and smarts of this group here! God Bless DU!!! Every day it gets just a little bit better! Damn, you guys are good! An honor to stand with you all.

5. That sucks
Not a good catch phrase. Sounds silly, and has no meaning.

Sorry.

11. Republiclowns
I just wish we could come up with something with a similarly negative, even if subconscious, connotation.

12. Geoffrey Nunberg has a better idea
Nunberg is the author of Talking Right: How Conservatives Turned Liberalism into a Tax-Raising, Latte-Drinking, Sushi-Eating, Volvo-Driving, New York Times-Reading, Body-Piercing, Hollywood-Loving, Left-Wing Freak Show.
Q: What word or phrase is currently driving you crazy?

A: "Cut and run." It seems to typify the Democrats' problem. Their instinct is to respond with another expression that has the same syntax, like "Lie and die." But every time they say that, "Cut and run" comes to mind. As with "values" and the rest, the Democrats echoing the Republicans' language reinforces it. What Democrats have to do is change the focus, and with language that has its own emotional power. You know what I would say? "How many truckloads of dog tags are you willing to spend in this place?"
