Crock alert: Article claims Hagel fell from grace within GOP

For Hagel, Standing Up Brought a Fall From Favor

Chuck Hagel: Moving Forward

Snip...

But six years later, that picture has been turned upside down: McCain has morphed from party outsider to Bush administration booster and a leading contender for the 2008 GOP presidential nomination. Hagel, meanwhile, has tumbled from grace within the party after repeatedly challenging the Republican leadership on Capitol Hill and leveling bruising critiques of President Bush's handling of the war in Iraq and domestic policy.

How could the onetime toast of the GOP have fallen so far, and what are the chances that Hagel will run for president in 2008 in the face of so many obstacles? In her new book, "Chuck Hagel: Moving Forward," University of Nebraska at Lincoln journalism professor Charlyne Berens attempts to answer those questions with a sympathetic portrait of a public figure who is immensely appealing and astute, yet the architect of his own political frustrations.

2. Chuck Hagel will WIN the 2008 Presidency Hands down
and doesn't need a single american to vote for him.

It's the other way around. The GOP Backed Bush and team are on the Outs with the voting machine manufacturers.

Chuck Hagel owns a $5M+ or more equity investment in the McCarthy Group which is a multimillion investor in both Diebold and ES&S. It was ES&S that put Chuck into office with an 80%+ Margin of victory in Nebraska and the guy is as smooth as a silk snake.

Mark my word. This man is our next president bar none.

What makes Chuck more scary than Bush is his ties to the trilateral commission and the Bilderburg group. Sort of like 'devil you know' in Bush versus the Devil you don't.

Chuck brings a whole new layer of rich Europeans controlling US interests if he gets elected and his strong ties to the voting machine vendors means he chooses who his house and senate will be.

rough life, Chuck. how's that campaigning working for ya?... sucks to have to pretend to campaign doesn't it!!

5. I'm a HUGE DEAN fan, helped build the GA for Dean Organization
what I"m saying, that you may not be hearing, is that Chuck Hagel controls a
financial and therefore banking/ 'leverage' interest in ES&S & Diebold
and those 2 machines control a little over 75M Votes, more than enough to put
whoever those two companies decide into office.

The bottom line is that we don't have honest, integrity based elections and Hagel has a better
chance because he controls the vendors that control the secret vote counting.

that's what I'm trying to say..

wanna put some money on this wager that hagel wins???? i'm almost certain of it, even if it depresses me bigtime.

I'd rather Dean be president and in my book he is president. he's the only person in democratic leadership with backbone.

but we don't live in a country where our votes mean a damn anymore so that's all I was saying...

4. my take on Hagel is that...
...he's on the outs with the neo-cons re: Iraq/WoT (even as a GOP combat-vet, having the personal experience to know better isn't allowed); and can't stand the cult-o-personality around Junior. It's impossible to imagine Chuck (who took a body-full of shrapnel for his kid bother in Vietnam) as having anything but unbridled contempt for his fellow "served my country in uniform in wartime" pals. Certainly George "AWOL/fake medal" Bush; and, i suspect, Navy-flier McCain, who did a few missions, got shot down and caught, and spent the rest of the war making life more difficult for himself and his fellow POW's (some of whom have some very uncomplimentary things to say of him at that time) than it should have been. I think his criticisms of policy have more to do with his genuine concern for the troops (and BushCo's betrayal of them), and less with the policy itself.

As for being president, i'm sure his ego is massive enough to allow him to imagine himself WH material; but may be smart enough to know better. Otherwise, he has a 100% voting record on issues near and dear to the Christo-fascist Coalition; and an 85% rating from the offical GOP thought police review board. Like John Murtha, don't mistake his criticisms of the war with being a liberal.
