The Truth about the "Terror Plot".... and the new "psuedo-terrorism"

by Nafeez Mosaddeq Ahmed

I am disappointed to say that so far there has been very little serious critical discussion, grounded in factual analysis, of the alleged "Terror Plot" foiled on the morning of Wednesday, 10th August 2006. Except for a few noteworthy comment pieces, such as Craig Murray's critical speculations published by the Guardian last Friday, the mainstream media has largely subserviently parroted the official claims of the British and American governments. This is a shame, because inspection of the facts raises serious problems for the 10/8 official narrative.

No Imminent Plot

On the basis of the "Terror Plot", Prime Minister Tony Blair is planning "to push through 90-day detention without charge for terror suspects." Home Secretary Dr. John Reid has ordered the draft of new anti-terror legislation that would suspend key parts of the Human Rights 1998, to facilitate the indefinite detention of terrorism suspects in the UK without charge or trial. The law is planned to apply also to British citizens. And since 10th August, Britain was on its highest "critical" state of alert, which indicates the threat of an imminent terrorist attack on UK interests. Only in the last few days was it lowered back down to "severe".

The stark truth is that the "Terror Plot" narrative has been thoroughly, hopelessly, politicized. There was never any evidence of an imminent plot. A senior British official involved in the investigation told NBC News on 14th August that:

"In contrast to previous reports... an attack was not imminent, the suspects had not yet purchased any airline tickets. In fact, some did not even have passports." ...

2. The NPR reporter gave a breathless description of the proceedings
Claimed case all legit, strong & everything. However, he had absolutely nothing to support his opinion, other than news that there was "bomb making equipment", "bomb making manuals" and "martyrdom videos".
From what was reported, the case sounded weak as piss to me.

3. The "Terror Plot"...
...was a resounding success.

Bush and Blair can trumpet the effectiveness of their sham war on terror and "intelligence cooperation."

Compliant Americans sat glued in front of the "terror tube" to absorb more propaganda.

RW shills could puff up their chests and demonize Muslims.

Anti-Bush wannabees could boast about the "effective police action" of the Brits.

Bloggers could hyperventilate about whatever they beleived in already, facts be damned.

Cosmetic companies get tons of shampoo, hair gel and toothpaste thrown into the landfill.

Whee...everybody wins! Terra, Terra, Terra!

And now back to the 24/7 Jon Benet story, already in progress...

On the basis of the "Terror Plot", Prime Minister Tony Blair is planning "to push through 90-day detention without charge for terror suspects."

That way the truth that this "hopelessly, politicized" terror plot was never any threat won't come out til after the election and the 'sheeple merikuns' will go into the voting booth with fear which is just what *Co wants.

6. question
in recent history, like within the past year, haven't there been a few other "terror plots" that were exposed, only to find out it was little more than children-young adults getting goaded along by FBI-CIA plants infiltrating their organizations.

Didn't something like this happen to some less than smart young people down in florida recently?

And what is the followup to this. Are these young fools serving life without parole on the basis of Bush' word alone? Or something equally unjust?

Thanks

7. Welcome to Miami
http://www.miami.com/mld/miamiherald/14880185.htm

"Five of the seven men arrested in an alleged terrorist plot to blow up the Sears Tower and other buildings appeared in federal court in Miami this afternoon, but said nothing substantive about the highly publicized case.

According to a federal indictment, all seven men believed they were conspiring with al Qaeda ''to levy war against the United States'' in attacks that would ``be just as good or greater than 9/11.''

The campaign, which never advanced beyond the discussion stage, would begin with the bombing of the 110-story Sears Tower in Chicago, according to the indictment.

The group's leader, identified as Narseal Batiste, allegedly said he wanted to ''kill all the devils that we can,'' the indictment said.

They never dealt with anyone from al Qaeda, the terrorist group responsible for the attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, though they met repeatedly with a government informant pretending to represent al Qaeda and swore oaths of fidelity to the group, officials said."
