I am watching close as possible developments from Baghdad

this week and next. I think maybe this comes to a head soon. Or starts to. And I think we could do well to pay attention. Anyway, I am.

I make these cold blooded calculations about these things now a days - I think the end is starting, one way or the other. At least how it is calculated in DC - Maybe the begining of the end.

Anyway, there is probably a big fight coming there in the next 10 days or less.

I think,

Joe

1. Could you enlighten us....with just a teaser or a clue?
When you think or all the different factions that could be involved in a big battle which ones are you envisioning? Have I had a cocktail too many? If this answer is extremely obvious, I'm going to hate myself tomorrow.

2. I wish a had a couple of cocktails.
I am an american so I don't count any other factions - just american boys.

And I am sure I will hate myself in the morning too.

9. This is good that this is just a back post in some inate internet
exchange, really.

We have three (plus) brigades of the 2nd div (there are only 3 or 4 brigades in the div) - The best equipped warriors in history going at this here. The 3rd brigade and the 172nd brigades are going at it. Now, thats on CNN. Other elements, more than we know, are too.

Here is the problem - we can only move a unit at the peril of other areas - can't do that for too long, huh - bad guys figure out where your weak pretty quick, you see.

And that is the issue.

We are moving to a fight, we really are.

Or we have the most incompetent officer corps in history.

And that is where we find ourselves today.

Joe

12. Thanks Joe for Clark for your explanation.
Iraq has become a terrible, long nightmare that we could have avoided in the first place. I only wish our boys (and girls) the best over there.....they are true to their service but I don't feel our government has been true to them.

5. I don't see any large fight-there is no Iraqis army to fight with,
just the endless drip drip of a people's blood in civil/tribal war. If there is a big fight it won't come from American soldiers but Turks killing Kurds to stop the Kurdish resistance.

It is absolutely amazing how horribly screwed up this is, all of those people and children dead for nothing.

6. Oh, a big fight.
You can feel it.

I am not sure if it is really because the Iraqi government can't last past year end or if it is really because the gop can't last past november, really.

But if either is true, there is not a lot of time. Not the end of the world, but maybe the begining of the end of this war, for us.

I guess I'm just a parent of a kid there now, but I can sure feel it coming.

10. I strongly suspect that the Shi'ites will demand
that that the US/UK Occupation cease. The puppet Iraq Govt. wants the Occupation to continue because they will be run out if US/UK Forces leave but the Iraqi people, around 80% want the US/UK out. If al Sistani ever loses patience with this debacle and issues a Fatwa for the Ocuupation to end, it will.
