Poll question: For whom are you cheering loudest, and Why?
Here's a poll that will (hopefully) allow us each a moment to cheer for our 'my guy' and not risk flaming.

These are all local or statewide races in which (I think) every person named is pretty much popular here in DU. For which of these House and Senate candidates are you most cheering?

Please share why you answered as you did.

(you will notice that a certain northeastern race between a Dem and a self-selected 3rd party candidate is conspicuous by its absence. PLEASE don't go there in my thread.)

36. I dont think so. (as far as pissing match) Even my republican wife
thinks Lamont has only brought up Lieberman's record and she knows it is not distorted but factual. Also, she feels that Lamont's adds do promote him as a positive change for DC. So, from my wifes republican view... Not a pissing match on the Lamont side. But has Lieberman apologized to Lamont for the Web site hack accusation???

5. I picked James Webb over George Allen, because

...if George Allen (Republican-Virginia) loses the US Senate race, it will probably end his career as an elected official. But if George Allen wins, he may become president.

I didn't see any mainstream coverage of his response, even though it was spread all over the internet.

Not only would it get rid of nitwit Burns, but I think he would be a much more progressive Dem than just about any in the west besides Boxer & Wyden. More like Dorgan who is good an awful lot of the time.

Just thought you'd like to know. ;)

Regarding the topic at hand, Im rooting for Casey the loudest. I know some diehard Santorum fans and if he pulls a win off in the end, Im never going to hear the end of it.

He's far from a perfect candidate, but he has one quality that overwhelms everything bad about him: He's not Santorum or one of his paid minions.

And Irey who is running against Murtha.. OMG!!

She was on one of the talk shows this weekend, and she is clueless!!

When she was asked about Iran, Iraq, or North Korea.. she didn't know how to respond.

Basically she just kept repeating "Weally big airplanes attacked us on 911" http://eliteleague.co.uk/forum/images/smilies/duh!.gif .. WHEELY BIG AIROPLANES!"

I'd love to see her debate Congressman Murtha!!

Bob "Sell the Swamp to Wal-mart" Corker.

Second on my list is my neighbors to the "north," Webb v. Allen.

I would like to see these two Southern states send a Democrat to the Senate, yes, indeedy-doo!

19. Patricia Madrid vs. Heather Wilson (R-Cow)
in New Mexico. This is the best shot we have to get rid of one of the neocons' rising stars. She is HORRIBLE, a total Blivet rubber stamp, pro military, corporatist, anti labor, anti consumer and anti woman.

She's doing blitz advertising, too, went negative and nasty immediately.

22. I picked Sherrod Brown
but I wish I could vote twice and add another...

Sherrod because he is great on all the issues. Also because he is probably the #1 chance for a pick up in a Senate Seat. The latest polls showed him 8 points ahead, but DeWine has a TON of cash.

I would also like to vote for Ted Strickland. Electing Ted Strickland as Governor is the only hope Ohio has for a prosperous future. 16 years of Republican rule have hurt our economy, school funding, etc. very badly. Blackwell would be a nightmare. An ABSOLUTE NIGHTMARE for our State! We have to get Ted elected.

The other race I would add is Jennifer Brunner as SOS in Ohio. We NEED honest elections in Ohio and she is the person to ensure fair, free, open and honest elections.

(I may be showing my Ohio bias.. but I have been hearing on R and D sides that as Ohio goes in '06, so goes the nation in '08) Ted and Jennifer are essential for the future, for '08 elections and for '12 redistricting in Ohio. (Better chance we'll win in '10 with incumbents) Sherrod is the best chance right now to help turn the Senate. All three races are very important to me. I have been helping with fundraisers, events, name recognition and will start on canvassing and phone banking.

If you want to donate to any of them...
www.jenniferbrunner.com - Jennifer Brunner for Ohio Secretary of State
www.tedstrickland.com - Ted Strickland for Ohio Governor (against J. Ken (Harris) Blackwell
www.sherrodbrown.com - Sherrod Brown for U.S. Senate

24. Of the choices offered, Bob Casey, absolutely. PA is my near neighbor and
I certainly want to see Santorum go down.

But that's not how I voted; I voted "Other" 'cause I'm cheering loudest for Sen. Menendez right here in NJ to keep his newly-acquired seat against the challenge of Thomas Kean, Jr.

25. Not only Tester in Montana. . .
But what about Larry Grant (D) vs. Bill Sali in Idaho? Here's even what some Republicans are saying about and to Sali:

“If you want to debate this, I’ll put the House at ease and we can go back into my office and I’ll throw you out the window.”
Republican Mike Simpson , Speaker of the Idaho House

“The third floor wasn’t high enough. You should have taken him up to the fourth floor.”
House colleagues of Rep. Simpson, Idaho Statesman, April 7, 2006

“That idiot is just an idiot. He doesn’t have one ounce of empathy in his whole fricking body. And you can put that in the paper.”
Bruce Newcomb, Republican Speaker of the House, Idaho Statesman April 8, 2006

One can only imagine how bad a Republican is when even his fellow Republicans, not known for having much empathy themselves, say that he doesn't have "one ounce of empathy".

Also, what about Gary Trauner (D) vs. Barbara Cubin (R) in Wyoming?

I don't know a thing about the guy, and I'm not an Ohio voter, but it's absolutely crucial that Cruella and Uncle Tom Blackwell's political careers end NOW. Neither deserves reward for high treason and election fraud.
