Poll question: Who do you think *would* win in this matchup for our 2008 Dem Pres nomin.?
Just wondering who people think would be a stronger primary candidate for us.

1. What does stronger mean in this context?
Most likely to represent the interests of DU members?
Most likely to win the Democratic primary?
Most likely to win a national election (if nominated)?

3. Gore - I think the debates would prove that. I would welcome anyone
to that table, though, the stronger the better.

4. Debates are useless in the age of the Corporate Whore Media
Both Gore and Kerry destroyed the Chimp when they debated him, but you would never know it, listening to the media.

6. In the Dem primaries the debates DO matter to Dem voters and they are
not as susceptible to media spin the way overall voters are. I think that's why the corpmedia actually pays little attention to the Dem debates and never gives them the focus they should.

11. But Hillary being involved changes that whole picture.
The right wing wants Hillary. They have made that more than obvious. So they would do their revisionism job on those debates just like they did on the general election debates the last two election years.

Obviously one thing that needs to happen is a return to a good old fashioned real debate sponsored by the League of Women Voters, rather than a series of scripted debates airing on FAUX News and controlled by their shills, which is what we had in 2003-2004

13. Heheh...well they spun the 2000 debate, but even FOX couldn't spin 2004
debates for Bush.

What the mediawhores DID do was downplay the importance of the debates and the specific failures of BushInc on various issues Kerry attacked him on. Imagine if they had followed up on Kerry's points about Tora Bora, port security and how best to stabilize Iraq and withdraw in a timely way and counter terrorism for REAL?

5. Absolutely Gore. Hillary Clinton is a weak candidate, imho.
But I don't know if Gore will run, so this discussion is academic. I really want Clark to run, but again, that's an unknown. After Clark and Gore, I'm with Feingold.

9. I personally think that Clark will throw his hat into the ring in '08
but unfortunately, I have my doubts about how far he would make it in the primaries. But we can always hope!

7. All but the most brain-washed of American Youth will respond to
Al Gore, because he has valid environmental credentials; THAT issue IS their future and they know it.

12. Hillary Clinton is our strongest candidate.
She's a great campaigner: she'll get 70% of the vote in the NY Senate re-electiuon - Repugs too scared to run against her.

I think she'll be our next president.

16. I agree. Hillary will win huge in 2006
Edited on Tue Aug-22-06 07:29 PM by wiley
If we pay attention to other races taking place in 2006, Democrats may actually prevent Freepers and Trolls and Media Whores from making sure the Republicants steal another election. House Dems and those running for House as Dems have less money that Repug House wreckers at this point. If we don't take back the House in 2006, we won't even HAVE a f*cking environment in 2008.

14. Us would not be here without Al Gore,
at least on the internet, that's the way I see it. This is why the mass corporate owned media are trying to kill net neutrality today. They are trying to put the democracy genie back in the lamp, just to make it easier for them to brain wash the American People so we may have another Bush clone in the White House.

15. They're both people who get their phone calls returned.
I voted for Gore, but either is formidable and would enjoy significant support.

And both, by degrees, are owed apologies from the media.
