Forgive my ignorance, but why do they call him George Felix Allen?

I see this all the time but I didn't get the story behind why people add his middle name.

3. Because the name "Felix" is associated with a cat and cats

are soft and furry and not macho and abrasive like Allen tries to pretend he is.

It's a rag on his overbearing persona: it's like calling swaggering Bush, "Shrub."

used his middle name. So, when Webb fired back hard, like we wish more Democrats would do, Webb used Allen's middle name. It was great. Now it is used often.
