Pelosi Statement on President Bush's Comments on Iraq
http://democraticleader.house.gov

"President Bush should have given more thought to consequences of a failed state in Iraq before he launched his ill-advised invasion almost three and a half years ago. He did not have a plan for preventing chaos in Iraq when war started. The mounting death toll in Bagdad and elsewhere in the country is stark evidence that he does not have today.

"Our troops have been fighting in Iraq longer than we fought in Europe in World War Two.The President's promise to keep American forces in Iraq as long as he is in office is no subsitute for an effective plan to complete the mission. "Stay the Course" has produced the situation President Bush now decries, and his repeated failure offer a new direction provides no hope for a lessening of the sectarian violence that is the greatest threat to Iraq's future.

"Democrats believe it's time for a new direction in Iraq, with responsible redeplyment of U.S. forces from Iraq that begins this year. Our soldiers in Iraq should transition to a more limited mission focused on counterterrorism, force protection of U.S. personal, and training and logistical support of Iraqi security forces."

3. His drivel was posted in a couple of earlier threads.
Check the ones posted around 10, 11 ,12.

Basically he said that as long as he is in office the US will be in Iraq.

2. Hee hee. FINALLY!
3 years later, the Dems finally get it! Now if they would oppose Bush on the other 99% of his agenda, I might start donating to them again.

4. Iraq has lasted longer than the action in ETO
And what do we have to show for it? A lot of dead bodies, military, civilian and indeterminate. More than half a trillion dollars missing from the Treasury. The United States is an object of derision and ridicule all over the planet. We get our noses tweaked regularly by such tin-plated despots as Kim Jong Il and Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. And Osama bin Laden is still a free man.

Good, prompt response from Soon-to-be Speaker Pelosi.

5. Who would have guessed
that a ragtag bunch of irregulars could hold the world's most modern army at bay for over three years. Hey Rummy, what do you have to say about that? Maybe we should ask the Canadians for some help.
