E-Voting Fraud Potential Exposed Part II. New Clarkcast out!
This is the second installment in the series of Podcasts that General Wesley Clark's Political Action Committee is releasing concerning the threat to our Democracy posed by serious security flaws in electronic voting machines and vote tabulators. Like Part One, it features extensive interviews on the potential for Election Fraud with David Dill, Mark Crispin Miller and California Democratic Candidate for Secretary of State, Deborah Bowen.

All three guests interviewed are extremely well versed in the complexities involved in this threat to our democracy, and are each well known to activists involved in the election integrity movement. They all have the credentials, gravitas and experience needed to reach and change the minds of skeptics who until now may have not have given much thought to the threat to elections current e-voting technology presents. This is your chance to pass on solid information to friends, family, neighbors, and co-workers who until now have ignored our concerns regarding e-voting security. These podcasts are an excellent outreach tool to share.

3. Great Stuff! But Tom, you don't have Lieberman in your title......
so most at DU aren't going to open this thread, let alone go listen to the podcast.

Doncha know that in the 2006 election, there is only one important issue, and it's the race with the used-to-be Democrat against the other Democrat?

So make a note to yourself for the future: Campaigning and photoOps with Ned Lamont is the only thing that counts as leadership these days......and discussion of the voting machines, in particular if backed by a prominent Democrat, is just not important enough to keep a thread going! :sarcasm:

PS. Hope I'm proven wrong and that I'll have to eat my words!

Thanks for the post nevertheless!

5. Well, I also started a thread in the Election Reform Forum
I know those DU members care about whether or not elections get stolen. Folks on this forum talk a big game about this too though. I can't count how many times someone has said it doesn't matter who the Democrats run if Diebold gets to "count the votes".

I think it was Stalin who said something to the effect of "It doesn't matter who people vote for. It matters who counts the votes." Anyone have the exact quote?

Anyway these podcasts are rock solid and informative, and I can't imagine anyone who one of us manages to make listen to them walking away from these clarkcasts without their faith in our election system shaken. And that is what we NEED people to feel Damn It! We have to get material like this circulated if we want to have fair elections!

7. Sure Frenchie, the link is below
I suspect some DU members don't really know about the Election Reform Forum. We become creatures of habit and tend to only haunt the forums that we are familiar with.

Here is the link to my thread on the Election Reform Forum:

8. Thanks for posting these links to transcripts
There is so much information in these Podcasts that having transcripts available to read is really helpful. The audio can almost run by you at times, but there is nothing like actually listening to these folks talking about this.

9. Right, Tom
And knowing ms in la, she will soon have the transcript of this weeks podcast up as well. I know they spent hours and hours editing to get the interviews to fit in the 20 minutes for the podcast, so the transcripts are great!

I'm disappointed more don't seem to be interested in this. Hopefully ms will do a diary at kos when she's home from work. May garner more attention there?

10. Many thanks for your podcasts - will Wes be making a public statement any
time soon? I don't expect anything about the 2004 election being stolen since no one has proof in hand, but, I'd love to hear a plan from trusted Dems to secure the machines. I say trusted because I don't think many Dems even "get" the machine fraud and will only be too anxious to support COSMETIC reform which will actually HURT our movement more than help it.

11. Wes has commented previously
He talked about this somewhat during his impromptu "bar stool speech" at Yearly Kos that some of you may have seen grainy footage of, and I know he made some reference to this during live blogging at Kos once also. Clark stays closely involved with both the Securing America and the Clark Community Network web sites (they are linked). There is no way he would send out podcasts under his own name and then feature them prominently at his own web site if he didn't agree with the need to address this issue NOW.

Feel free to go to the discussion about Clark's latest Clarkcast (this one) and ask him yourself whether he plans to issue a public statement. Wes Clark checks into the discussion at Clark Community Network regularly. It's important to him to stay connected with the thoughts and priorities of grass roots activists. I am sure he will at least read your concerns if you post them.

12. Maybe the pac can do a press release informing the media about the purpose
of these podcasts, and we can get some added traction that way?

13. Please make this suggestion directly, blm
The more activists Clark hears from directly the higher the priority this issue will likely become for him. Clark actually cares about what we think, a number of us asked him to devote a Clarkcast to this issue and he responded. Clark has already done a great deal for us on this by putting out these no punches pulled podcasts under his own name. Usually WesPAC doesn't promote individual Clarkcasts, instead they have promoted them collectively as a series. Clarkcasts are reaching a lot of people. I am very pleased that Clark devoted two straight weeks of his Clarkcasts to the e-voting issue. I'm trying to email information about them to everyone I know.

15. I was totally impressed
who else is providing space on their website for podcasts on election reform????
Wooo Hooo! and it was not a podcast of his staffers, it had Mark Crispin Miller,
I have his book, "Fooled Again" The Panelists gave our voting system the following
rating: on the scale from 1-10, 1 being worst and 10 being the best: 1, 2, and failed
how's that for a vote of confidence!

:-)

17. We ALL need to get involved.
ms in la - the one who did the interviews for the ClarkCast, posted this at CCN:

For those wondering....

Submitted by ms in la on August 21, 2006 - 9:15pm.

What can I do?

In regards to Nov 7th... to help safeguard the vote.

This organization -- Election Defense Alliance has put together an easy to read list of items they are working on that need volunteers. Lots of volunteers needed in November.

They will be covering the key races-- webcasting live ANY irregularities found, monitoring the polls, the exit polls, covering and reporting everything that's going on. Not unlike the "thousand eyes" concept in France of having citizen's eyes on all aspects of the procedure.

This link will show you around a dozen different committees and activities you can do to help cover this election. This has something for everyone. Go look and sign up!

http://electiondefensealliance.org/book/export/html/255

One other bit of good news, the main guy was just on AAR with Thom Hartmann and he said the right have targeted SIX different Secty of State races-- and oddly, California was NOT one of them! So maybe they think McPherson can win??

Sen. Debra Bowen for SOS

but the struggle to hear this was its own reward. This is like the greatest ClarkCast yet. Ahhhh, I think that's the comment I make every time. But this is great. All my heroes on one ClarkCast.

20. Too little too late
Only now are the democrats addressing the issue of e-voting??

A couple of months before a major mid-term election??
It's much too late to do anything about it now.

As usual, the Democrats are worthless.

21. Have you considered contributing to Debra Bowen's Campaign?
She is running for Secretary of State in California as a Democrat. She first had to win the nomination by winning the Democratic Primary. Debrah Bowen is one of the experts interviewed in these podcasts, and she has been talking about all of this from day one and gaining a national profile by doing so.

Don't you agree that getting people who are keyed in on this potential for massive fraud elected to Secretary of State positions is important? Unfortunately the earliest she can win is this November, California refused to hold the election earlier to accommodate us. Do you feel that she is worthless? If so I guess you won't want to listen to or pass on these podcasts. It's so much more useful to simply call them and Democrats like her worthless.

23. After listening to the first part of this interview
I was motivated to attend a rally this past Saturday, featuring Dr. Miller. While not saying it's too late he did criticize the Democratic politicians who fail to speak out on this subject. This also reaffirms my support for Wes Clark, he is not a politician. That fact brings him a lot of criticism, but raises his standing in my eyes. It is getting too late to act for the '06 elections and he pointed out that we must be prepared to take a stand. Maybe this time we can get more elected Dems to stand up than in 2000. The sad part is that in 2000 we could not find a Senator to stand up. I fear that may be the case again, given the denial of Dr. Crispin's statement by the "victim" in '04, Sen. Kerry.
